We had the good fortune of connecting with Aryn Nolan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aryn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
People are struggling with their health and want help. Root causes of dis-ease in the body are not being addressed and individuals are spending astronomical amounts of money on modern health care approaches that mask problems leaving them dependent. People were flocking to me wanting help with their wellness and I knew I had the education, experience and tools to help them. It was time to leave hospital based nursing and create my own wellness business that focused on changing the foods we eat, supporting our gut health, addressing daily stress and supporting our body with natural tools to function optimally. Our bodies have amazing ways of healing themselves when given the right tools!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I coach people globally on how to make changes to their daily lifestyles to promote wellness and healing. I start with a one-on-one private online consultation via Zoom to obtain a health history and build a care plan. Care plans are unique to each person but generally consist of nutritional changes, stress management, reducing toxic exposures and specialized supplements to support their specific goals. My team also has the ability to do labs and testing to help guide our recommendations and care plans. We schedule follow up consultations and stay in close personal contact throughout their journey. The main challenge I have faced is peoples confusion regarding what I do. It’s ironic because my approach was the original health care model our current system has gravitated so far from. I am just pushing us back to where our health care system should be. There is no finish line. My job is never done and my business will never be finished. Being consistent in my mission for change in our health care and providing people with simple tools of empowerment keeps me on track.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I love the city but I also love venturing out into the less known spots. Martinez Lake outside of Yuma is a beautiful mixture of clean palm lined lake shores with surrounding mountains and mesas. Yuma Territorial Prison is a historic must see that doesn’t take long to enjoy. Eating local and supporting small businesses are important to me so I enjoy eating at The Press Cafe & Bistro for Lunch (vegan and gluten free options) and River City Grill (vegan and vegetarian options) for dinner. I also love authentic Mexican food and suggest Jectors for breakfast and Taco Monster for dinner.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people deserve recognition in my story. My husband for his unwavering belief and support in my business. Eliza Bacot, RN, NP and founder of The Organic South for being my business partner and motivator. The book that sparked my personal wellness transformation “It Starts With Food” by Dallas Hartwig and Melissa Hartwig. This book was my first step to understanding the control we have over our wellness and how simple it can be to help others gain control of their wellness too.
