We had the good fortune of connecting with Chuck Muller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chuck, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Branding. Conventionally people will tout the value of branding which absolutely has its place, but it is not as important for small to midsize companies. Being a household name should take a back seat to solid marketing efforts. Branding does not necessarily make the phone ring and is almost impossible to tie true measurable results. Branding is generally measured in “Vanity Metrics”, meaning how many people know my name, saw my ad or heard my commercial. You can not tie a true ROI to that. What small to midsize companies really need is direct marketing efforts that drive real leads. Campaigns that are designed to be measured by phone calls and lead forms. More importantly these campaigns give business owners the ability to measure a true cost per lead and cost per acquisition. Big businesses need big branding, everyone else should focus on direct marketing to build a bridge between someone looking for a service and a business offering that service or product.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe that our company is truly different from other marketing and creative companies for a number of reasons. First and foremost this is a fun place to work and the office is designed to be a fun environment. Additionally we spend a lot of time focusing on team building, group activities and ways to make being productive fun.
The big differentiator for our clients is we do not require any contracts. This is strange for an agency like ours but it helps us better align with our clients goals and ensures that we deliver results. We allow people to cancel at any time, without warning. We are that confident in our work and the results we produce. This has worked well for us, it means there is no risk when signing up and guarantees quality results.
We also have what we call our “Immutable Rules” . We believe that the way a company operates is reflective of the people that work there. Every decision we make at Point & Click follows three immutable rules.
1. We are Problem Solvers This is a very important rule for us, you will never see anyone with an official “title” instead everyone is a “Problem Solver”. We do not believe in the “not my job” mentality, rather any one can solve anything. Working in a tech-based company solving complicated problems is what we do.

2. We do good things This may be our most important rule. Most might see this as just another “we work hard for our customers” statement however it is so much more than that. We like to think in terms of how we can affect the ones around us in a positive way. This rule encompasses how we interact with our coworkers, clients, families & community.

3. We always have a positive attitude. With a positive attitude and initiative we can accomplish anything. This means that everyone is willing to go the extra mile and ensures this is a fun and pleasant place to work. We believe these three rules define a strong employee, a good partner and at their core they are the definition of a good person and that is what we are all about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona is such an amazing place and there is so much to do here, I am not even sure where to start. I will do my best to outline some of the places I would suggest but be warned this list is going to be all over the place, super nerdy and not for everyone.

Where to eat.
Capital Grille – A very impressionable, classy steak house offering a very high end experience.
Durants – Another nice steak house that has been in the valley for 60 years. Really cool place.
May Gardens – This is not for everyone, in fact my wife would say it is for no one. Chinese Buffet
Pete’s Fish & Chips – This little fast food place is a favorite for locals.
Cheese & Stuff – Charming little Deli that has been in downtown Phoenix longer than I have been alive.
Where to shop.
Drawn to Comics – Fun comic book shop with the coolest owners on the planet.
Bookmans – Your one stop shop for everything pop culture.

Where to Hang out.

Westgate – This place has literally anything you are looking for sports, shopping, entertainment, etc.
Velocity VR – Real great indoor VR experience and inside racing track.
Castles and Coaster – Great local theme park and arcade.
Odysea Aquarium – Very cool place to hang out.
Phoenix Zoo – Awesome place to support and a great place to be when the weather is nice.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Point & Click would not be where it is today without the support of our amazing team, including past and present employees and our loyal customers who have trusted us with their marketing and creative over the years. We have been truly blessed with super smart people who love what they do and have a passion for helping others. This company and its culture have been formed by the great people that work here and the amazing businesses we get to work with every day. It is a hybrid of these things that make this a fun and challenging place to work. I am proud of the work we do and grateful to be part of it.
