We had the good fortune of connecting with Fionna Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fionna, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite affirmations change depending on where I’m at in my life, and what my goals are at the time. Currently, these are my go-to affirmations:
It’s not my job to be a perfect mom, it’s to give my children my most present self, my love, my unconditional support, patience, light, and laughter each day.
My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless; my potential to succeed is infinite.
The reason these two mean a lot to me is because, as a first time mother, I’ve learned that I have to take things moment by moment and it can be challenging trying to balance motherhood with everything in else in life so the first affirmation is a reminder to myself to be present, patient and loving for my daughter.
The second affirmation is a reminder that I’m capable of achieving the success I desire, and the ability to conquer any challenges that life presents.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My daughter, Madison, and I wrote a children’s book, 100 Days Inside, together as a special mother-daughter project during the pandemic. The story is loosely based on her experience as an only child within a co-parenting dynamic during the pandemic, when we were all locked in at home.. I also wanted to create a book where our aesthetic and family dynamic was represented in a positive light after needing to have conversations, starting when Madison was three (3) years old, about race and skin color following events at school that brought attention to our Brown skin. In all of the work we do, a driving force is cultivating inclusivity and diversity because we know, from personal experience, how important representation is.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting us, I’d definitely take them hiking on Runyon Canyon. That is def an LA hot spot! Another LA tradition is brunch, so I’d definitely take them to West Hollywood and brunch around. For dinner, we’d have to at least do Catch LA one of the nights. Oh! And, we would have to visit the Grove and, of course, the beaches! My favorite beach is Malibu beach, but we can cruise down PCH.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My daughter and I have had incredible support from family and friends. I want to dedicate this specific shout out to my incredible and talented friend, who we consider family, Ammala. She has been a pillar of support and guidance from the day we met, and a loving aunt to my little one.
She’s an incredibly talented photographer and has captured so many of our precious moments in the most beautiful, magical photos! She is also the person who is responsible for us being connected to you! So, that’s who I want to shout out here!
