We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Rimbergas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nancy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I love supporting art and the artists behind the pieces. My house is covered in a wallpaper of original artwork that my husband and I have collected while travelling and from our favorite talented artist friends. It was always a dream of mine to be able to create something that added joy into the lives of others. Personally, I believe that the gorgeousness of our desert landscape needs to be celebrated for its amazing patterns, colors, and textures.

Since I don’t have much traditional artistic skill (unless you count tap dancing), I searched for a way to merge my love of art, the Sonoran Desert, and keeping my skin hydrated. Luckily, I had a great group of people who helped.

We were able to collaborate with one of our customers who created original watercolor paintings inspired by our concentrated desert and cactus-derived ingredients. The result is the eco-friendly packaging we have happily sent out into the world.

What should our readers know about your business?
As desert-dwellers, much of our lives revolve around finding ways to stay hydrated. This includes the health of our skin whose moisture is constantly being attacked. Every product we create is made to be a dry skin solution. We are inspired by the gorgeous plants that thrive all around us.

We celebrate Arizona by using desert and cactus-infused ingredients that are exclusive to the Sonoran Desert. Prickly Pear Cactus juice, Desert Aloe Vera, Sonoran Lemons, and Jojoba have evolved to be insanely efficient at holding moisture. These concentrated ingredients are the fuel for our intensely moisturizing luscious body creams, luxe hand cream, and multi-use ‘lippies.’

As a small women-owned business, it is a struggle to find eco-friendly packaging options that live up to our all-natural, vegan, and cruelty-free products. We use recycled cardboard, soy ink, and sugar cane eco-tubes for our packaging. We’re not perfect, but the Earth Based Body mantra is doing the best you can with the options available.

I’m proud that everything we put in our products serves a purpose. We make choices like using Organic Desert Aloe Juice instead of water as the base of our collection. There are no fillers and no artificial fragrances or colorants either.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, I love it when we have visitors! It’s so fun to see the sights through their eyes. A must see on the itinerary is the Desert Botanical Gardens. We’re new members! There is always something new to discover. My favorite hike to share is Three Hill Loop. Halfway through, we get a killer view of Downtown Phoenix. Another favorite is the Big Butte Loop trail…mostly because it’s so easy to go for a post-hike breakfast at Arcadia Farms!

Shopping is always a good idea. Some of my favorites in Phoenix are Local Nomad and Frances. For a surefire dinner win, we order from PV Pies and do our best to get a table outside.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would never be in the place we’re at without the effortless brilliance and unyielding support of Angela Lynn from Sexy Dashboards. She has been on this wild ride from day one and her magical DNA is sprinkled over every facet of Earth Based Body. From graphic design to data analytics to good old-fashioned cheerleading, Angela is the secret sauce of our success and I’m beyond grateful for her support and friendship.

I would also like to shoutout our production partner, Craft Beauty Labs in Tucson. Christina Mahar and her stellar team have made my dreams come true with their expertise and support that allows us to keep growing.
