Meet Chelsea Lucas | Owner, Session Yoga

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, how do you think about risk?
I have always been a nothing to lose type of person. I actually thrive when I’m starting a new business or taking risks in that way. I have this idea that everything will always work out for me and even when it appears to not be working out I find that life is still happening for me rather than to me. I have been very blessed to have successful yoga studios for 18 years in tucson. Like all small business, its challenging, but I’ve found a sense of ease in this challenge. If you can find grace in suffering then it’s a beautiful life. I am so used to having to be a steady person from within that not much phases me in business anymore.
I think owning small business has molded me into a more confident and stronger version of myself. I love the work i’ve created and i enjoy watching it expand and shift as its own entity.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Session Yoga opened in 2012. I was experiencing a very challenging time in my life. I had just lost what i considered to be my entire life, house, car, and business. I was in the nothing to lose mindset and opened Session. Looking back it was a big risk, but at the time it felt like the only option. This is the work I am here to do. I hold space for others in form of yoga and i love creating that space. I worked very hard for the first 2 years. I wouldn’t allow myself the option to stop, so I continued on and then one day it became easier and we were in flow. I have learned a great deal about myself through this and the most import thing is trust. Trusting myself and trusting my instincts about decisions that need to be made, When something or someone feels off, trust that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So much to love about Tucson! I love walking in Sabino Canyon, meals at Flores Market, Don’t miss trying the famous bread from Barrio Bread! Turmerico is a fantastic choice to eat. King fisher is a favorite and i love the monica downtown. Let’s not forget a few hot yoga classes at Session! The gem show is also my absolute favorite to do when it’s in town.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
