We had the good fortune of connecting with Shahira McGinty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shahira, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process on starting my own business wasn’t an easy task . But then I began to tell myself to just go for it, I had ups and downs but that never stopped me from starting it. I had no idea that I would just become so passionate about owning my old dance team and running it with the success I have achieved over the past 3 years . So many good and bad thoughts came across my mind. But I still took that leap of faith and here I am today with an Amazing dance team United Dance Team (UDT)

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are not just a dance team that loves to dance cause that really what we do . But we are a sisterhood team , a family we believe in giving back and helping others in our community and showing love to all no matter the race . We are a team of dedication and determination we see life as a challenge but that never stops us from being successful and getting things done . We teach our girls to be proud in all that they are doing in life and never forget that we don’t say (I CANT ) those words are not valid words we push ourselves to be better than we were yesterday or even last year . Being a strong successful team is what makes our team stronger having balance and confidence is important. We believe in our team education yes that comes first we teach honesty , loyalty, respect and live positive . life is what you make it so always believe in yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to take my best friend to a phoenix Mercury basketball game. Me being from Phoenix AZ I would show them a wonderful time . We would have brunch and even go to a good dinner and movie . Then that’s when we hit the basketball arena just showing them the greatness of AZ in a positive setting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It all starts with the love and support from my Husband who has pushed me through for a successful business and managing my team . With the kind words and encouragement the support is always here . Telling me right from wrong and the good and the bad . His honesty is always a plus can’t for get my dance parents that gave me the dancers to begin with . They support our girls a 100% and always make ends meet . Our buckeye community is a major support system from booking our team to sharing our information on social media platforms with out our community we wouldn’t have made it this far . Family and friends have been in my corner from day one cheering me and the team on it’s an amazing experience and blessing all in one . We even gain awards from our local buckeye mainstreet community. We have a local practice facility donated to us from our local school Imagine buckeye and we are grateful for all the support from them . Our local mayor Eric Orsborn and his wife Tina Orsborn have been to a few of our events and been supportive in a major way . We appreciate the love and support from everyone . We are not just a dance team but we are a family.
