We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
In choosing a creative path I felt it was the best chance & decision for accomplishing the highest level of personal and professional growth.  It forces you to become Independent and Disciplined. Being challenged in every area of your life and allowing creativity to take the lead felt comfortable and right. Learning in creative ways gives you the space to explore self and is how I learn Best!  At a young age I was able to identify that true talent gets overlooked all the time by structures of corporations, as well as organized communities.  Careers become clickie and political, which is not my forte! This drove me to become a Business Owner, Independent Salon, Hair Artist, Lash Artist & so much more. The possibilities are endless!

Being over-looked in management positions by so many individuals that had a lot less skill level and talent then I did, along with less experience. Drove me to Soar as an Independant Salon Owner -Hair Artist -Lash Artist and so much more. Where I can be the Creator of my own Business and work while feeling Satisfied accomplished and fulfilled making the clientele base just as fulfilled as myself. It’s a Win Win

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Love a good challenge in using my Technical Skill and Artistic Flair.  To change someones appearance and life while giving them confidence to Dare and try new looks for self development.  Courage at its Finest.

I was able to get where I am today by patience and persevearance, as well as working in different Salon & Spa environments. Observing other talented and hardworking professionals.  It was never easy but something always made it worth it!

I want people to know that I do this job from my Heart & Soul to care and create an experience of self-worth and self-esteem for all my clients and people that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. It is a concept and perspective most people struggle with.  When someone smiles and Thanks you for making them feel and look better.  It is a Euphoric and Everlasting experience.  It can full fill the human experience, even during the toughest and most tragic of times.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Sabino Canyon on a walk or a hike. Followed by an evening on the patio at the StarPass JWresort for Happy Hour to see the city lights. Go to the Annex pick up the street car and stroll around downtown Tucson and the University area. Have dinner at Charro Steakhouse or El Charro Mexican Restaurant downtown. LaEncantada is a great place to shop and eat. People take their dogs with them because it’s a high-end outdoor Mall with great places to eat as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To all my clients and The Wigs for Kids Organization that has allowed me to get my name out and help the community in providing Children and families in need. It has brought my business ” Hot Hair Studios”a lot of business that has allowed it too thrive during a difficult time for Artists & Creatives.
