Meet Taylor Faminu | Certified Personal Trainer & Transformation Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Faminu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started MyTayloredBody, LLC. as a safe place for women to receive personal training from a woman who can relate to the experiences of other women. In 2014, I discovered my love for fitness in college. I would help women who asked for my assistance with their workouts at our college fitness facility and grew a small community of women who were interested in my help. This is where the brand, MyTayloredBody began. As life happened, I graduated, got married, had my first child, trained clients in several gym locations, my desire to work for myself never wavered. Once I had my second child in 2019, I knew that I desired to help women with their health and fitness goals and also stay home with my newborn. This was the turning point into making MyTayloredBody an online based personal training service.
At that same time, COVID-19 hit the world and this created the perfect opportunity to not only train clients online, but make my online training a success. Women wanted to get healthy and they wanted a coach, but they were also eager to limit their exposure in the community. After vigorous social marketing and building successful relationships with my clients, I am happy to say that over the last four years, I have helped over sixty women not only reach their fitness goals, but have helped them create a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career as an Online Personal Trainer is one that I am proud of. I am proud of this because I have built a successful online personal training business, while still being a full time stay-at-home mom. Being a stay-at-home mom is not easy in the slightest. But doing this while also staying on top of clients, scheduling workouts, responding to emails, posting on my social media, etc., is an everyday challenge. But it gets done.
My business relies heavily on how knowledgeable, adaptable, flexible, and relatable I am with my clients. Not only do I provide the scientific guidance that my clients need to reach their desired goals, but I am also able to share what I have learned from my own experiences of being a college student, being a first time mom, experiencing post-partum, being newly married, being a working mom, being a stay-at-home mom, etc. These experiences have allowed me to connect deeper with my clients and have allowed me to build relationships with women who have worked with me for years.
What I have learned along the way, is that some people have the drive to make it happen, and some people don’t. I have had clients reach out and say they want to make a change to be healthy, and then they try it for two weeks and decide that they really are not ready to commit. And that is okay. This style of training and the dedication that I require of my clients has truly helped to breed women who are not only in the best shape of their life physically, but are extremely strong mentally, because they constantly prove to themselves that even though life gets busy and hard, they care about their success enough to consistently show up. This applies to my business as well. If I do a poor job as a coach, if I do not consistently market myself online or by word of mouth. Then as an entrepreneur, I do not have any income. I have to make it happen for myself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my Bestfriend were visiting the area, we would stay at a resort in town. Tucson has a pick of amazing resorts, with great spas and pools, fitness centers, and even better views. We would have dinner at Flemings or Charro Steak & Del Rey, followed by an evening of wine and live music. In addition, we would check out a few of the outdoor hikes and enjoy a day laid out by the pool.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
My sorority is filled with strong women who continuously push me to succeed and help as many women as I can.
