We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work-life balance is a topic I’m passionate about and it was a significant factor in my decision to enter the real estate industry. I believe maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial for my well-being, and it’s equally important to my clients. We connect on this level, I know they appreciate seeing me lead a balanced and fulfilling life, and vice versa.

Since entering real estate, my balance has certainly evolved. On one hand, I now enjoy more flexibility than a traditional 9-5 job, whether I was in an office or remote. However, the downside is that I need to be more available at a moment’s notice, ready to handle urgent matters or meet with clients. The most significant trade-off is that there are no true “days off.” Every day is a work day, and weekends tend to be the busiest with showings or open houses.

Still, this arrangement works best for me, and it’s how I’ve found the work-life balance that suits me. I believe a healthy work-life balance can be achieved regardless of your circumstances, even if it requires some tradeoffs. To me, there’s no question about its importance!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a robust network of professionals in Phoenix and across the US, and I take pride in being a connector. Networking is a passion of mine; I thrive on connecting with people and helping others establish themselves, especially in new environments. I believe this is one of the ways I am most distinguished from others in my field. Even the most luxurious property will feel a little empty if you are not connected into the community around you, so I think that is a really vital resource that I can provide, and truly makes a house feel like a home.

Additionally, my well-rounded life experiences and my extensive travels have refined my eye for interior design and luxury lifestyle. Living a luxury lifestyle myself, I have a deep understanding of the nuanced needs of my luxury clients, enabling me to serve them with ease. I believe that these experiences make me uniquely qualified to excel in the luxury real estate market and provide substantial value to ALL of my clients.

I am incredibly proud of how quickly I established myself as a specialized luxury agent in Phoenix’s real estate market, starting from scratch. My career is marked by record sales and unique deals that often required creative, out-of-the-box thinking. Currently, I am most excited about venturing into real estate development. Encouraged by friends and colleagues, and with several renovation and design projects already under my belt, I decided to start building the homes I envisioned and desired to sell. I am currently working on a ground-up luxury spec home in Arcadia, slated for completion in spring 2025.

From a young age, I was drawn to real estate, inspired by my own sketches of buildings and admiring architecture. My mom also played a significant role in shaping my interest as she worked as a real estate agent for many years. While I had a passion for architecture, my entrepreneurial spirit eventually led me to real estate sales. The transition to real estate was a natural fit, and I quickly found success, which confirmed my career choice. One of the ongoing challenges in this field is the fluctuating market cycles, which I’m still learning to navigate. My desire for consistency and my need to be continually engaged in projects spurred my leap into real estate development, allowing me to create and focus on my own projects.

I want the world to know that I’m just getting started. Having turned 30 last year, I feel more secure in my career and excited about the future. I have a long-term vision for growing and evolving in this industry over the next 5, 10, and 20 years. My ambition is to leave a lasting impact on the real estate industry somehow, improving it in a meaningful way. I’ve achieved a great deal in a short time, but I am eager to build on this success and expand further. I am continually growing and committed to excellence in everything I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you want to experience the best of Phoenix, I highly recommend exploring the North Central Phoenix area. This vibrant neighborhood is home to the city’s top local hot spots, exceptional food and restaurants, unique coffee shops, stately homes, and eclectic boutiques. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in the local culture and truly feel like a Phoenician.

Start your day with a visit to Lux Central for a cup of coffee followed by breakfast at Valentine, where the avocado toast on squash bread is a must-try. It features smashed avocado, smoked trout, corn nuts, and egg, served with a side of tater tots topped with native seed salsa. After breakfast, head over to the Uptown Farmers Market, open Saturdays from 7-11am, to pick up some Arizona Microgreens, Danzeisen Dairy products, and Noble Bread.

Next, stop by Arcadia Meat Market for some fresh local meats, eggs, and sauces, and don’t forget to pick up some local Arizona honey. Make sure to swing by The Brokery office to say hi—we’re located in a quaint neighborhood area with several local hot spots within walking distance. I recommend parking at the office and walking over to La Grande Orange. Grab a freshly made cherry and oatmeal gluten-free bar and a pint of grateful spoon gelato as a treat.

For your accommodations, stay at The Global Ambassador, a new Sam Fox concept hotel with a European flair. Cap off your evening with dinner at Théa on the rooftop, enjoying panoramic views of Phoenix. If you’re in the mood for a lively night out filled with dancing, art, and music, Walter Where?House is the perfect destination. Enjoy Phoenix!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to Oleg Bortman, Tim Menghini, and Tucker Blalock at The Brokery, who have been my pillars of support and encouragement in the real estate industry. Joining The Brokery while still new to the field, Oleg, Tucker, and Tim were crucial in helping me navigate the Phoenix real estate market and establish a successful business. Their kindness and professionalism not only set an example for how I aspire to operate in the industry but also create a welcoming environment for everyone.

When I first joined The Brokery, it was a small team of around 30 people; since then, it has grown into a much more established brokerage with more agents and offices. After spending a couple of years growing outside the brokerage, I was excited to return and have the opportunity to work with Oleg, Tim, and Tucker once again. I am committed to building my story here for the long term. Their outstanding leadership qualities truly set them apart, and I am thrilled to be an agent at their brokerage.
