Meet Stevie Everett | Owner of Honey Bee Booths and Honey Bee Hat Bar, Systems Analyst, and Dog Mom

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stevie Everett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stevie, what do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute our business’s success to two things; consistency and patience.
When we entered into the world of photo booths we were far from the first company on the market. It was important to understand going into it that we were not going to be an immediate success and that we would have to work really hard to gain a reputation and a customer base. This means being patient when doing free event after free event to get practice, form relationships, get social media content and more. It meant being patient when we went weeks without landing a job or having customers tell us we weren’t in their budget. We were eventually able to gain a following, a great set of referral connections, and a five star rating on Google and Facebook that all help us tremendously in getting business.
Secondly, we remained always consistent. We showed up to every job big or small ready to deliver a consistently top tier experience. We showed up regularly on social media conveying our brand value and identity. Our customer communications and interactions with clients were consistently steady, strong, and informative. All of this has helped us become known for providing a high quality and seamless experience at all sorts of event. Many of our business now comes through either social media or referrals from incredible customers and vendors that we have worked with. We worked hard to get here and are very proud of our brand!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have had many careers over my life from working at Disney World, to working at a small educational book company, to working as a dog groomer and now a business owner. A lot of my knowledge and drive stemmed from my colorful college education history. I am privileged to have earned an Associates Degree in Fashion Merchandising, a Bachelors Degree in Business – Tourism and another in Marketing, a Masters Degree in Digital Audience Strategy and a certificate in Convention Sales and Meeting Planning most of these from Arizona State University. All of this background has exposed me to so many different industries, challenges, and career paths. It lead me to my current job as a Systems Analyst and inspired me to look further at how I can challenge myself and work for myself.
I have always been a busy individual raised by extremely hard working parents who instilled the importance of working hard in me. They went to their jobs every single day and rarely complained. It was easy for me to see how far hard work can get you and that you can truly accomplish anything if you work at it. This was a big drive for me to always be improving myself and the choice to open two business alongside my current role. We all know times are hard right now and I have become accustomed to keeping myself consistently busy. When I was (finally) done with schooling it was almost without second thought that I knew my time would be best spent seeking a way to open my own company and that I was capable of anything. I attribute my attitude and work ethic largely to the examples I had growing up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My partner and I rarely go to the same restaurant more than once or twice, so if we go there repeatedly you know it’s good! If I were to show someone around we would have to get some pizza at Cibo in downtown Phoenix and some seafood and drinks at Buck and Rider. There are too many good Mexican food options to name just one. For brunch we can’t miss The Windsor.
For having fun some must see attractions would be Wildlife World Zoo, Wonderspaces, old town Scottsdale, a western bar like Buffalo Chip, and maybe a comedy show in downtown Phoenix or live music at Copper Blues.
A trip to Arizona is also not complete without a trip to Sedona, Flagstaff, and/or the Grand Canyon! I never get over the incredible natural beauty of Arizona and it’s many different landscapes. If I was to show someone around Arizona we would need to take at least one day to visit Sedona and take a short hike or head over to the creek and lunch at Javelina Cantina or Sedona Pizza Company if we have our pups with us. If I had time to throw in an old western town like Tombstone or Goldfield and a trip to Bisbee I would!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a huge shout out to my partner Nick. He has been here for everything from conception of the idea through to where we are now. He carries the heavy things when I don’t want to, encourages me when I get down, and never stops hustling. We absolutely could not be here without his positivity and support. I am very fortunate to have someone by my side who believes in me and believes in our brand.
