We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanna Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breanna, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As an entrepreneur, it is incredibly difficult to maintain balance in your life. Within my particular career, I am the owner AND operator of my salon – which adds another layer of difficulty. When I first started my business work life balance really wasn’t possible for me. There is a never ending ‘to do” list that really requires your all, at all times. But, over the years, I have realized that maintaining a balanced life is incredibly important for my mental health. I have learned to achieve this through proper time management, learning how to delegate tasks that I either don’t excel at OR aren’t a valuable use of my time, building a team and learning how to say NO.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Bronzed Bungalow is a boutique spray tanning salon located in Old Town Scottsdale. Over the last 5 years, we have become the go to spray tanning salon for women throughout the valley. At our core, is love for our craft and sharing that love with our clients. Client experience and education is at the forefront of our service because our service and its outcome is heavily dependent on the client’s willingness to adhere to pre and post care guidelines. We are extremely proud of the comfortable and welcoming space we have built over the years for our clients to experience what true service and hospitality mean. Building a business from the ground up 6 months prior to the pandemic was not an easy feat and to this day, there will always be challenges that come our way (like Arizona summers) BUT we always go back to our Why, our purpose, and our core values to center us during the tougher times. I truly believe that you are only one tan away from a good mood. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good – you are ABSOLUTELY UNSTOPPABLE.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This might be one of my favorite questions I get from out of towners, because I LOVE the valley SO MUCH!
I would always recommend staying in OR somewhere near Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, or Arcadia. In my opinion, not only are these areas great because of the endless options when it comes to food, shopping, entertainment, etc. But these areas are centrally located within the valley and accessible – which makes going to other areas like Downtown PHX or the East Valley, a breeze.

I’d have them start their trip at my salon, because who doesn’t want a spray tan to kick off a trip!
While their tan was setting, I would have them do take out for dinner from INGO’s Tasty Food.

Each morning I would have them start with a workout class at Barry’s Bootcamp. I’d then take them a couple times that week to my favorite place for recovery, Modern Wellness & Drip.

A couple mornings would definitely include a coffee trip to La Grande Orange or to The Global Ambassador. If coffee wasn’t the go to that morning, I would make sure we grabbed a juice from Kaleidoscope.

I would need to take them shopping in Scottsdale – First stop would be Truly Blessed Jewels to make permanent bracelets and then over to Rancher Hat Bar to make a custom trucker or cowboy hat.

I would plan some sort of interactive workshop for us – maybe something cool like knife making at Corey Dunlap Custom Knives and Sharpening.

Lunch and Dinners would include places like – Buck and Rider, Uchi, OHSO Brewery, Chula Seafood, The Montauk, Diego Pops, The Mission, Cala, Sumo Maya, Toca Madera, Hush, and Zipps (cause why not).

Desert nights would include a trip to Sugar Bowl, Jeni’s Ice Cream, Swig (for a dirty soda and cookie), OR hunting down where beignet babe OR Manda’s Macs is popping up at!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the Arizona Small Business Community. I joke all the time that I would have no friends in Arizona if it wasn’t for small business – but it’s TRUE. The Arizona small business community is like nothing i’ve ever experienced before. The people I have connected with throughout the years are people who truly care about this community and truly want to see you succeed. They have been an integral part of my success the last 5 years.
