Meet Codi Stonehouse | Wedding Planner and Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Codi Stonehouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Codi, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The Arizona wedding industry is pretty amazing. Rather than seeing each other as competition, we’ve developed a community-oriented mindset, coming together to share resources, support, referrals and fostering a network that prioritizes the success and happiness of everyone involved that elevates the entire industry.
I’ve recently taken my business full-time and the unwavering support I’ve received from all vendors, especially fellow planners has been nothing short of heartwarming! I think it’s important for people to understand just how tightly knit this community is!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and after talking to so many previous brides, it broke my heart how many of them didn’t have the wedding of their dreams because they planned their day for someone else – their mom, grandma, ect. I realized so many couples not only need help planning their day but they need someone in their corner who will support their vision and their vision only. I started Sage + Stone Weddings because I not only love the pure chaos of wedding and event planning – but I saw how many couples needed support in the planning process whether it’s the actual planning or needing a friend who has their back.
I knew nothing about running a business when I first started and I’m still learning! There has been many tears, late nights, and hard lessons learned. I’ve sacrificed many weekends with my family and friends and still do. I had to learn to set boundaries with my couples, communicate with tough vendors, market myself on social media, and handle very opinionated family members. I’ve had my fair share of epic fails but wouldn’t have it any other way. All those failures got me here today, and I’ll embrace the many more failures to come. The wedding industry is not for the faint of heart, but I love every second.
Sage + Stone isn’t just about being a wedding planner; we’re memory-makers and storytellers. Our journey began with a passion for celebrating love in its most authentic form. We believe that each love story is a unique masterpiece, deserving of a wedding day that reflects the essence of the couple. Our approach is simple yet profound – we’re here to create a day that is 100% YOU. Tradition is a suggestion, not a rule, and we’re more than ready to toss it out the window to make your day truly yours.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh gosh, that’s a tough one! Arizona is so underrated, our state has some of the most beautiful landscape but be sure to visit outside of the Summer months!
Lost Dutchman State Park is a must, there are so many trails for all levels and you can have an intimate elopement with the iconic Superstition Mountain as your backdrop! I love this little coffee shop called “Coffee Corner” in Downtown AJ, the owner is so sweet and of course the coffee and cinnamon rolls are delicious. I personally love the mom and pop style restaurants so Hackers Grill, Hitching Post, Mickey D’s and Fresh Press are good spots to hit when it comes to a good meal in the East Valley.
If you want to escape the heat, Strawberry is the cutest little town just a few hours North of Phoenix. The Strawberry Inn is the perfect little getaway and just walking distance from Windmill Coffee and PIEbar – both as delicious as they sound!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The list is endless! Truthfully, my husband is the reason I started my business and finally took the leap of faith to go full time. He’s been my rock and has fully supported me in every step of the way and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. I cant forget my family, especially my mom who’s also been an incredible support system during this exciting journey!
I’m also incredibly grateful for the fellow wedding vendors who have played a major role in my small business journey. I’ve been fortunate enough to build meaningful friendships with a core group of professionals from bartenders, photographers, rental companies and other wedding planners. I know I can always count on them for support and guidance as I continue to grow in this industry, I’m so thankful for their friendships.
