Why they do what they do

We asked some of the city’s leading artists and creatives to tell us about how they decided to pursue an artistic or creative career. We’ve shared some highlights below.

I love being creative. I think different in all aspects of life. I love to look at things from a different perspective and I think that causes me to become more artistic. I’ve always loved music, and dance came so natural to me. I can completely get engulfed into the lyrics of a song or the beat of a sound. I played in the NFL for six years, and when that chapter closed, I realized how much I missed the thrill of competing. Golf became the outlet that filled that void—it challenged me mentally and physically in a way I hadn’t experienced since football.
