Meet Sean Moore | Photographer and Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own photography business was a natural extension of my passion for creativity and visual storytelling, and I realized I could create a business out of something I love to do and get paid to perform those tasks. I’ve always been drawn to entrepreneurship and the idea of building something that’s truly my own. Having the ability to be self employed appealed to me, both for the flexibility and the freedom to shape my own path as an artist.
I was inspired by the idea of setting my own schedule, working on projects I’m genuinely passionate about, and connecting with people through the art of photography. It was less about creating a traditional “business” and more about turning my passion for photography into a sustainable lifestyle—one where I could grow artistically while also supporting myself financially.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a photographer and videographer, my goal has always been to go beyond just taking pictures or shooting video. I strive to create art that you can see and feel. In a world where everyone has a camera in their pocket, the challenge and the opportunity, is to rise above the standard and create something meaningful, something that truly connects.
What sets me apart is the intentionality behind every frame. The off camera lighting techniques, I don’t just document moments. I look for emotion, movement, texture, and depth. Whether it’s a portrait, a wedding, a landscape, real estate architecture, or a brand story, I aim to capture something real and lasting. I want people to look at my work and feel like they’re being transported back into that moment, not just viewing it from the outside. My goal has always been to have my picture, even if its just one, to be hanging on there wall.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. It took a lot of trial and error, working through self-doubt, and learning the business side of things along the way. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency and authenticity matter more than perfection. I am perfectly imperfect as a human being, so always striving to be perfect can create a mental roadblock for the drive for perfectionism. People connect with you, not just your portfolio, but to the artist and how you make them feel during a session. Staying true to my vision, while continuing to grow and adapt, has been key. Whether it’s through stills or motion, I believe in the power of visual storytelling to make people feel something, and that’s what drives everything I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being born and raised in Phoenix, I’ve always had a deep love for Arizona and the raw, natural beauty it offers. While I enjoy the city, places like the Desert Botanical Garden, hiking the Echo Trail on Camelback Mountain (when the weather’s cooler!), and golfing at one of the many incredible courses, when I want to show someone the real Arizona, I take them north.
A perfect example was when my sister-in-law came to visit from Germany, along with her boyfriend, who happens to be an avid videographer like me, I knew I had to take them on the kind of road trip that captures the soul of this state.
We started in Sedona, taking in those iconic red rock formations and “vortex” energy. We hiked a bit, explored some of the art galleries, and made time for a sunset shoot because there’s truly nothing like that golden hour light in Sedona especially at Cathedral Rock and the “Secret Slick Rock” location.
From there, we headed to Flagstaff, which has such a cool, laid-back mountain town vibe. We had lunch at Tiki grill, a local favorite, and wandered around downtown for coffee and record shops. It’s the perfect contrast to the desert, with its tall pines and crisp mountain air.
Next, we made our way to Page, stopping to take in the awe-inspiring views of Horseshoe Bend. A must-see if you’re into photography or just want to feel humbled by nature. Then we explored the Lower Antelope Canyon Trail, which is one of my favorite places to shoot. The light, colors, and textures down there are unreal, like walking through a painting. While the upper canyon is more popular, I’ve always felt the lower canyon has richer, more vivid tones that come to life through a camera lens. Unfortunately we had to come back to the valley, but if we had a few more days, I would add Kayenta, and the Monument Valley driving tour as a must see on a trip to Arizona!
Arizona has this ability to constantly surprise you, from cactus-studded landscapes to pine forests and deep slot canyons. If I were planning a perfect week for a visiting friend, it would be about balancing adventure, great food, and those jaw-dropping views you just can’t find anywhere else.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my wife and family. Her assistance along with my children, has supported me through every step of this journey. The late nights trying to meet editing deadlines, the uncertain moments, and the milestones. Her belief in me, even when I doubted myself, has been the foundation of everything I’ve built. Her love, patience, the countless photo sessions where she was my subject to work on advanced lighting techniques, and encouragement has given me the strength to pursue this path wholeheartedly. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
