We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Tackett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk is an interesting topic that really only gets talked about in the business and investment world. I think about risk as a calculated necessity to advancement. We all take calculated risks every single day, most of which we often give zero thought too. Getting in your car and heading to work is a risk, eating lunch at Taco Bell is a risk, even using a public restroom has risk! But, in all of these scenarios the perceived successful outcome is far more important than the risk we take. For years I took the risk of attaching myself to another company by providing them my time and intellectual properties in exchange for financial reward. It wasn’t until I understood that I was risking it all on someone else’s ability to perform! Being a business owner of any sort is just a choice to move that risk over to my ability in exchange for not just a financial reward but also the reward of building something that my family can be a part of.
I like this quote because it applies to anyone
“Don’t be afraid to take risks. It’s the only way you’ll ever achieve anything worthwhile.” – Codie Sanchez

What should our readers know about your business?
So currently I own a part of three separate companies. One is a company that I took over part of to help my father in law begin to retire and the others are companies I am building with some close friends. This is why I consider myself a serial entrepreneur.
Lets first talk about Captain Ron’s! This is a company in the home services space. We provide both residential and commercial clients with window shade products, patio shade products, and window washing. This is a large unrecognized industry in the valley of the sun with a ton of potential. About 2 years ago I joined my father in law, Captain Ron; no he is not a captain, to turn his one man show into a viable business that could either support him in absentee form or be sold. It has been a fun challenge on many levels as one could imagine going into business with an in law! But, over the last 2 years we have been able to double our revenue, hire key employees, and start moving into scaling up to larger customers and projects.
The next company just launched this year! It’s something that I am very excited about in the pool space. It’s called Dadpool and we specialize in above ground pool subscriptions and services. We have had an overwhelming response in our first year and are working hard to build processes for future growth.
The last company combines a couple of my hobbies, motorcycles and cigars! New Mercy Moto Cigar Co launched at the end of 2024. Its a company built on the traditions of cigar smoking and camaraderie built around the motorcycle community. This company is nothing but FUN. We have been able to take part in events, rides, and provide our patrons with very good cigars they will remember forever.
I have learned many things while starting, building, and maintaining business. The most valuable lesson though is the importance of relationship. Without relationships business cannot exist, so curating relationships has to be the most important item on your list.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok, so this one is a little tough but here goes nothing! We would first take a motorcycle ride up through Globe through Pinetop, Payson, and back down past Saguaro Lake. Arizona has some absolutely breathtaking scenery and there is no better way to see them than on 2 wheels. We would eat at Judys in Globe, That Brewery in Pine, and Knuckle Sandwiches in North Mesa. Golfing in Las Sendas would also be on the list! Thats a great course with some of those breathtaking views Arizona has to offer. A day at canyon lake on the water would be on the list, because most people think that there are no lakes in the desert! Boating is something we very much enjoy as a family and try to get out as much as possible. We love the underrated dive spots for food so places like Murpheys Law in Chandler or River Bottom Grill in Florence would be must visits!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my success to two people. The first is Jesus, because without his work on the cross I would have no hope in the future. I am nothing without the cross and grace and everything I do is to bring glory to God. The second is my wife Brit! Her and I could not be more different and that is why we go together so well. Even though she grew up with a father who worked for himself, she did not really catch the business bug. So for the last 15 years she has been putting up with all of my discussions about new ideas, how I can create a better process, creating some kind of logo for me, or being a shoulder to cry on!
Without her I would not be able to pursue the things that I am able to pursue and for that I will be forever grateful for who we are together.
