Meet Ben Baldwin | PGA Professional & Director of Sales

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Baldwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I work to live, I don’t live to work. But I want to enjoy the work I do. I watched my father despise his job for 20+ years. I chose to enter a field that I am passionate about in an effort to better balance work enjoyment and thus quality of life. I’ve been fortunate enough to find that through a couple of different roles in my career within the Golf Industry.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Best Approach has been producing the finest yardage guides in the golf business since 1994. Founder Mike Howell developed a reputation for excellence in graphics, service, and printing that grew Best Approach from a spare bedroom business into one that employs over 50 people worldwide with locations in three different countries, and what is now the world’s largest producer of yardage guides. Nothing was easy for us, we worked hard and smart over the past 20+ years to build what we have today. Hard work, perseverance, and keeping focus on what we do and doing it well has proved to be our drivers towards success. While the product offering now includes both print and digital media, Best Approach’s experience and core competencies remain focused on providing golf courses with the best golf course graphics available.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m going to paint this picture in March… during spring training. If my best friend was coming into town for a week, I would make sure we played golf and the places I enjoy frequenting. And then try and grab an afternoon game or 3 during that week. I would make sure we got to We-Ko-Pa, The Raven Golf Club Phoenix, Talking Stick, Longbow and Southern Dunes. I’d love to take him out to Desert Forest as well. Try and catch a Cubs game at Sloan, and a Dbacks or Rockies game at Talking Stick, and then a game at Diablo in Tempe. Dinner at Rustlers Roost is a must. I’d also take him to Carlsbad Taverns in Scottsdale and then we’d night cap at the best DIVE BAR that is next door to the tavern, The Roadrunner. We’d probably spend an evening or two at the Talking Stick Casino. And then hit a few places in Old Town as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Parents, my Daughters and my Fiancé. Their love and support has driven me to strive through to be successful in business and in life. My partners and our entire team at Best Approach working diligently as an organization over the past 25 years to become what we are today. The largest golf course graphics company in the world.
