We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Clark & Jessie Michaels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica and Jessie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As I think most inspiring entrepreneurs can agree the autonomy, independence and freedom of owning your own business is a major key driver for many. Jessie and I initially connected over the fact we had always had multiple side jobs in addition to our 9-5. We both had worked in social media management, photography, marketing consulting and more, and we wondered how we could unite those skills with our passions for the travel industry.

What should our readers know about your business?
Abode Society is a digital marketing agency and creative studio specializing in the areas of brand strategy, content creation and web design for Airbnbs, short-term vacation rentals, and travel industry clients. We work with unique clients wanting to up-level their hosting experience through the means of elevated marketing strategy, brand development, social media management, influencer partnerships, digital design and more. At Abode, we are all about the creative sizzle with a strategic marketing plan to back it up. Our mission is to provide modern brand solutions and integrated marketing tools to help clients grow their businesses fast and organically. We can’t say the process of a start-up is easy. In fact, we find it hard to believe that any entrepreneurship journey starts off smooth. And starting a business in the beginning of a global pandemic with so many unknowns to come certainly didn’t make this any easier, but if there’s one thing that makes Jess and Jessie an unstoppable force, it’s that we lead with our hearts and do what feels right always.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s nothing like taking a trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, and a week would certainly be enough time to explore a major portion of the fun and charming coastal cities along the way. We enjoy seeing a new place through the eyes of a local. Though staying in a luxury hotel always sounds nice, we also love to experience vacation rentals bursting with charm. Our secret sauce to a perfect getaway is staying in a unique home walking distance to the main attractions (bonus points if near the beach), roof top bars/restaurants, and plenty of golden hour viewing parties.

The support from our friends and family have meant everything to us. To those who have graciously believed in our creative abilities – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have pushed us to pursue a career, or better yet create a career, that continues to ignite our imaginative souls each and every day.
