We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming.- Theodore Roosevelt

This quote helps me forge on when I feel less than or inadequate to continue. In my line of work, egos abound. It is easy to feel less than another when the learning doesn’t come easy for an individual I’m teaching. This is when I remind myself of this quote: at least I am in the arena, doing my best, always striving to do better.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m excited that I have become certified in Infant Aquatics, teaching survival swimming to children as young as 6 months old. With this training I will better be able to serve and teach children with disabilities. As children with disabilities grow, many times their disabilities are compounded with other co-occuring conditions such as anxiety, attention problems, and social challenges. Teaching these children at a very young age can circumvent these extra challenges that may develop as they get older. Once they have learned survival swimming skills, they are equipped to have a lifetime journey that will include all the benefits gained from being and moving in water.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person who has made it possible for me to carve my own path is my husband, Wes Moore. It hasn’t always been easy with me volunteering 20-30 hours a week with 3 young children, living on my husband’s blue collar, hard earned wages. His patience and belief in me to pursue my vision has helped me build and continue to build a nonprofit and for-profit business.
