Meet Lindsey Floyd | Gym owner, personal trainer, boss, mom

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Floyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of my brand has been very clear since the start of the pandemic. Loyalty, trust, humor and RESULTS are the keys to success. People want to feel and look their best and have a good time doing it with someone who is equal parts experienced, passionate, knowledgeable, and the life of the party. The success has come from my members putting 100 % of their trust in me, and in return, I give my members workouts they love, nutrition and overall wellness instruction extremely tailored to their personal life and family. In addition, the ever present children that live here also (my amazing kids), have opened the door to amazing opportunities with other growing families, and work in pre and postpartum bodies.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When we had our daughter almost 8 years ago, we were working and training for a local gym in chandler, about 30 minutes from our home. At the time, my husband was working two jobs, and I was training all the 5am classes and worked close to full time, making 50% commission. Not the worst, but completely running Ourselves into the ground. Brian had always dreamt of owning his own fitness brand and we needed an immediate change. We converted our garage in our house at the time for a fully functioning gym and clients came to us. It was going great. So great, in fact, We had to start looking for a bigger space. We found one in west gilbert, a warehouse that was perfect. We owned that for about four years, and they were the hardest four years of our lives. Complete financial despair. We had so many members, yet, with all the extra costs of owning and managing a place with high rent/utilities/minor fixes here and there and equipment, we were completely broke. We also ran the business differently. He, being more business minded, and me, being people minded, proved to be something that we simply could not overcome. Because of our income problem, Brian had actually accepted another full time job with Lifetime Fitness. He started in march of 2020 and the business was left to me. Literally one week after brian started his new position, all gyms were forced to shut down. We knew we had to pivot, we had to shift… but how? We decided to close our warehouse, and rebuild in our new home, another garage gym. This time was different, it was better. We knew what the setup had to be. We opened for the third time on June 1st 2020 and because I had my gym in my home, i was able to open and accept clients well before the gyms were allowed to reopen. I got tons of interest from the community and started building up my one on one clientele as well which i wasn’t doing to much of at the warehouse. Between personal clients and small group classes, I’m almost at complete capacity. Blessings upon blessings seem to shower me lately and i have my amazing family and gilbert community to thank for that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being that I am an extremely active person, I would undoubtedly show them some of my favorite hikes around the valley. Camelback, the superstitions, maybe even Sedona. Paddle boarding or kayaking at canyon lake. The beauty of gilbert is definitely outside at the riparian park or nature walks around. We would definitely hit the pool at one of our incredible boutique hotels and resorts. There isn’t hardly anything I love more than a cocktail by the pool.
Breakfast at Liberty Market, cold brew at Sweetz Brew, lunch at a healthy spot like flower child or true food. For fun, painting with a beverage at the Art House, or going to medieval times or a Suns game.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God. His ever present faithfulness has been apparent in the most dire of circumstances. I can feel his umbrella of protection over our home and life.
My amazing husband Brian. This whole thing was his idea, and he saw my potential and pushed me (basically forced haha!) to continue this business.
My parents and grandparents, Dan and Debbie Moon, and Ed and Cris Murphy. I could absolutely not function without the constant help from my family. They help take my kids to and from school and everything in between. I am the epitome of, “it takes a village.”
