We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Loeffler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked in the Investment Industry for nearly 30 years, and what takes place behind the scenes can be a real eye opener. I lived with most of the eye opening experiences but this last experience was the deciding factor for me to take my life in a different direction.

I sat down one day and thought of what would it take to be successful in the photography industry especially living in Arizona given all of the opportunities. I put together a plan October 2021 and it slowly came together, and in January 2022 is when I went live with my business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I just started this new career in photography and so I am excited because it is something I really enjoy doing but trying to get your name out there and really separate myself has been a challenge.

So I decided to focus on the wildlife of Arizona starting with the wild horses of Salt River and I did that for two reasons. I have always had a passion for capturing wildlife in photos. I just have a knack of being at the right spot at the right time and capturing that moment. The enormous positive reaction I receive from people is extremely gratifying.

The other reason is not many photographers pay attention to the Arizona wildlife. Most photographers are focused on the landscape, and rightfully so, but not on wildlife and my work has started to stand out because I am only one of a handful of wildlife photographers.

The challenge now is to continue to take as many photos showing the Arizona wildlife before the summer heat arrives. Once the summer heat arrives, the wildlife are not very active.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My niece was in town for a week and I took her to Tonto National Forest almost on a daily basis. One day we went hiking at the Superstition Mountains, and while there a rattlesnake decided to cross our path. We just stood still until the rattlesnake moved on and then we continued with our hike.

When we were not in Tonto National Forest, we visited places such as the Desert Botanical Garden. Who knew such an abundance of plant could exist in the desert?

Of course we went to the Phoenix Zoo where my niece got to experience riding a camel for the very first time. She absolutely enjoyed it since she does not like to ride horses. So this was quite the out-of-the-box experience for her and she still talks about it today.

Finally, my niece and I visited a number of restaurants from watering holes near the Arizona State University campus to nearby restaurants such as the Double Dutch Cafe’ and Parlay’s. Way too many places to list but it is safe to say we ate well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people I would like to thank beginning with Steve Perry of BackCountryGallery.com for guiding me on setting up my Nikon D7500 DSLR camera.

I would also like to thank Deb Sandidge for providing great ideas on how to compose photos especially wildlife and landscape phots.

Next, I would like to thank Casey Olson of CaseyOlsonDesigns.com for showing me some great spots in the Phoenix area, and what is the best way to compose the photos in those spots.

Finally, I would like to thank Sara Stidham for critiquing my photos, making recommendations, and also acting as a great soundboard for my crazy ideas. If I “wow” Sara with a photo then I know I passed the test.
