Meet Jason & Christina Stebbins | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason & Christina Stebbins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason & Christina, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
One constant for us the last 5 year has been the loyalty of our District 48 Family. As we continue to grow with each passing year we strive to use our platform for the greater good of the community. We encourage and promote the shop local model and aspire to be patronized as the local place to shop. We take pride and are well-known for our shirt and hat wall, which attracts a lot of attention and becomes the topic of conversation and pictures. We also drop a new hat every Wednesday for D48HatwallWednesday; either District 48 hats or showcase another brand we offer in the shop. Community outreach is vital to our brand, because of the support and dedication from our customers we are fortunate enough to participate in many annual events around the valley. We partner with various local groups, businesses and 501c3 charities to support Arizona Military/Veterans and local Law Enforcement Agencies. We advocate for the homeless population, victims of domestic violence and those suffering the burdens of addiction by offering donations of clothes, water, meals and resources. During the holidays we enjoy donating toys to children suffering from various ailments in the hospital. When you shop local with District 48 you will boost the local economy and reinvest your money, helping to support the community in a variety of ways. We love this community and are grateful to have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other local individuals/businesses. We would like the community to know when you Support Distict48 you support various efforts within our local community. We strive daily to utilize our platform for the greater good and we will continue our efforts for years to come with the help of our supporters, customers and D48Family.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Thank you, Jon and Shout Out Arizona Magazine, for the time and this interview today. We are excited to share our story with the community. Owners Jason, Ken and Christina have decades of retail, business and customer service experience. Using this considerable experience, the trio collaborated, founding District 48 Clothing or D48 by our most loyal followers on April 1, 2017 in Glendale, Arizona. District 48 is a local family owned company and is passionate about the community. We as a company have set ourselves apart from our competitors and believe we bring a uniqueness to the Arizona retail industry. Our goal is to provide quality street wear at an affordable price point remaining inclusive, offering various goods for our diverse community. We are most excited about our dedication to helping in our community. Since the day we opened our doors we have committed to giving back to the Arizona community by means of toy drives, auctions and sponsorships. Here at District 48 we strive to utilize our platform for the greater good for our customers, Veterans, law enforcement, along with various humanitarian efforts such as domestic violence, addiction, homelessness and suicide awareness and prevention.
As with anything there is no straight path to success, the District 48 road has been full of twists and turns since our creation 5 years ago. Our company not only offers clothing, fun fact, we actually launched District 48 Coffee two weeks after the country shut down due to the COVID pandemic. Our friends and family thought we were foolish. We decided to move onward through the adversity and the untimeliness of the pandemic, stepping out on faith. Honestly, we already had containers of our coffee available for the launch. Since our storefront was temporarily closed following local restrictions, we decided to use the time productively and launch our website using our social media platform to promote our product. We personally traveled to our customer’s doorsteps making deliveries of our various coffee roasts. The outpour of support from our community was optimistic, a sign of good things to come. If the pandemic did anything for us as business owners, it fully exploited any weaknesses we had in our business structure. We learned quickly we had to pivot, regroup and reproach our business model to stay relevant. Going out of business was not an option, we were ready to do whatever we needed to survive.
District 48 is the shop for the locals, made by the locals and supporting other local businesses in our community. We want the community to know we are the ultimate destination shop in Arizona. We have something for everyone and we will continue to strive to bring unique and quality merchandise to the community at an affordable price point. We want everyone to know the D48 brand is for all the locals that want to show their love and support for the 48th state.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh great question. There are sooo many great local places in Arizona to mention. For this trip we will be staying on the west side by our shop inside of Arrowhead mall. First and foremost we would be going to Revolu Modern Taqueria and Bar, they have a great Happy Hour menu if you can catch it Monday through Friday 3-6P, they offer a fantastic cocktail menu as well. Their scratch kitchen offers the most flavorful dishes created by Chef and Owner Jeremiah. Our favorite is the salsa trio and the elote. After we get a bite to eat we would hit up all the local spots inside of Arrowhead Mall; we would buy mesquite and seasonal honey from Tracey at Raw Life Farms honey, get a new outfit at District48 and get new shoes and a haircut at Prime Kicks and Cuts. We would make our way to Lee Bones Fine Meats to pick up the best grass-fed beef and some poppers to cook for dinner. Another night we would cruise over to Westgate to see our friend Brittany for an Arizona turquoise ring and a new purse at her shop La Lady designs. Then we would head over to State 48 Brewery for a flight sampling and a bite to eat, we will more than likely bowl a few rounds and knock down some pins for fun. Another day we would make an appt at Lynch Vein and Aesthestics to enjoy some pampering and have a relaxing dinner at The Sicilian Butcher for some homemade and flavorful Italian food. One day we would make a day of shooting at Shooters World and go have local BBQ at Saucy Lukes Pop up. We would probably round out our trip with a day at Lake Pleasant to go paddle boarding along with experiencing the water obstacle course later having dinner at Dillon’s Bayou at Pleasant Harbor marina.
There are an abundance of local businesses and locations to visit, explore and support in Arizona. We like to refer to Trip Advisor and local buzz along with word of mouth endorsement when we are looking for new places to try.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to dedicate this shout out series to all of our loyal customers we often refer to as our D48Family. We would not be here if it was not for all of the support we receive daily. People have a choice where they spend their money and who they choose to do business with, we are grateful they keep choosing District48. In an ongoing effort To show our support we offer a loyalty program through our clover system at the register. It’s free to sign up and customers save on purchases throughout the year. This is one of many ways we show our appreciation to our D48Family. We have some exciting things in store for our D48Family before the end of the year, keep supporting and following to be in the know of current deals, promos and events.
