Meet Rahim Green | The Drinkmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rahim Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rahim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business initially started as a hobby. I was always interested in mixology, as I spent many weekends making cocktails for friends and family. This manifested into my love for mixology and desire to create a variety of cocktail-related products and services to share with the masses. Based on this experience, I genuinely believed that I could create high quality products, and I started “experimenting” with different flavors to ultimately release a cocktail recipe book and my first line of cocktail bitters.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There was a time when I would not have ever believed that I would become a business owner. The one thing that allowed me to be persistent was my love for experimentation, trying something different, and not being afraid to fail. A few years ago, I realized that I had put so much effort into writing recipes and making concoctions that it made absolute sense to start my own business. As a business owner, I have learned to continue the same quest for something new and unique to bring to consumers, and my brand is based purely on my love of mixology and the art of finding what botanically works well together. Although the process of establishing my business was not easy, I have been able to persevere through grit and determination.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Eating + Drinking
Being from a place known for great places to eat, a good portion of the itinerary would be focused on taking my friend to some great BBQ and Tex-Mex restaurants across the city (and there are way too many to name).
Also, given my love for mixology, we would have to visit some of my favorite cocktail bars, such as Anvil, Julep, and Better Luck Tomorrow. One of my favorite hangouts is a spot called Double Trouble Caffeine & Cocktails, which focuses on (you guessed it) serving great coffee and mixed drinks. The fact that I do not drink coffee should serve as evidence that the cocktails are awesome.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I recall visiting a bar named Tales & Spirits back in 2018, and I had a great time drinking cocktails and meeting new people. Most importantly, I had a great conversation with one of the bartenders, and I asked more questions than the bartender probably anticipated. The conversation (and recommendation to read certain cocktail books) inspired me to write my own cocktail recipe book.
I have to thank my family and friends for being part of my experimentation process.
