Meet Cassey Pelayo | Product Manager, Gym Instructor, Fashion Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassey Pelayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassey, why did you pursue a creative career?
A few years ago, I stumbled upon this quote that really made me think. It says, ” Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to make you fit and one to be creative.” I realized that I am already doing the first two. So, I ventured into blogging. I’ve always been interested in fashion so why not talk about it in my blog? And that’s when Cakes and Styles (a hobby website) was born.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a product manager, I believe that the different kinds of careers helped a lot in landing this job today. I’m always grateful for the different industries I got myself in before landing this career today and I learned that those experiences really helped a lot in shaping my product management journey. I’m always excited about innovating our products to fit what the customers really need. I’ve also learned the importance of always staying humble in your work. And that in our products, customer needs always comes first.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would definitely introduce them first to some coffee spots and good restaurants in the city. Then, we’ll plan a weekend getaway in the beach with fun-filled activities like waterfall hiking, mountain climbing or island hopping. That would be so much fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve always been inspired by Krystal Bick of This Time Tomorrow. Years ago, she quit her prestigious job at Google to focus on blogging full-time. It’s something truly inspiring.
