We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Smyth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jack, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I make videos that revolve around the adventures I’m having. My hope is that they encourage others to get out and create their own adventures.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been creating videos on TikTok for 2 1/2 years. I think what set me apart was merging raw and real-life stuff with a cinematic edge. I knew a little about how to effectively capture story that engages people from my background in video production.

My favorite videos always involve ridiculous inventions and other people joining in for it. Snowball canons, treehouses, couch on wheels down the beach.

Ideas come easy, execution of those ideas is harder, and making every video more viral than the next is almost impossible. It’s a pretty tough game. You just gotta monitor what others are doing well and then add your own spin, and then stick with it.

I’ve learned that there are natural ebbs and flows of algorithms and interests. Control what you can and release the rest.

I want them to know that ultimate joy and peace will never be found in anything outside of Jesus. I’ve tasted achieving my dreams, money, popularity, hype, and doing what I love. It all kind of comes with this vertical of work. Although those things aren’t bad, they can be huge letdowns if that is where your hope is. The only thing in the world that satisfies is Jesus. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beach. 100% of the time. Fishing, surfing, kiteboarding, sailing, volleyball, swimming or just sitting there and taking it all in. The beach is the move.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Casey Neistat was the first person on Youtube to influence me and show me how to communicate their lives into inspiration and value for others.
