Meet Laylah Carper | Licensed Aesthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laylah Carper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laylah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a brand and an environment where everyone felt welcomed and excited to experience a relaxing and results driven treatment. I wanted to fill the gap between a spa-like experience and a medical grade treatment, but also provide a happy medium where our clients can work one on one with a professional aesthetician to help meet their skincare goals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m proud to say that my business Beauty-Cocktails Aesthetics has been in business for going on two years. I pride myself in providing a luxe one on one experience, where my clients feel welcomed and at home as soon as they walk into my studio. However it hasn’t always been easy. The first year of business is always the most challenging and creating a business right after the pandemic did come with many challenges. Not everyone was ready to receive beauty services after the pandemic so building a loyal clientele base around this time period was challenging. With so much love and support from my family and close friends I continued to push through and promoted my business on social media and through word of mouth. The first year really showed me that with hard work and dedication you really can achieve your goals. Beauty-Cocktails Aesthetics continues to grow and provide a wide range of advanced skincare services and I couldn’t be more proud of what my business has become and I look forward to growing and helping more people achieve the skin of their dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Tucson is filled with so many hard working and innovative business owners. I would highly recommend my close friends and family to check out the following businesses, cafes, and markets to really get the full Tucson experience. One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is visit our local market at the St.Philips Plaza where you can find a wide range of vendors who sell unique artwork, clothing, and delicious food. Some of my favorite vendors include Desert and Stone who sell unique handmade and handpicked accessories, and Pau’s Pan Dulce who sells amazing custom cakes and pastries. I would also recommend visiting a few of my favorite local coffee shops such as Brewed Awakening and Cafe Maggie. Lastly I would recommend visiting two of my favorite self-care businesses here in Tucson, In Balance Pilates where you receive a group or a one on one pilates class like no other, and Lashed by Krissy to receive professional lash extensions to help you feel your very best everyday.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Starting a business takes a lot of dedication, passion, and drive. None of those things would have been possible without my parents. They continue to push me and encourage me to strive for success. They are the reason I continue to push myself and never give up. My inspirations include Ashley Curtis and Tess Zolly who inspire me to become a successful female business owner in the aesthetics industry.
