We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Seisinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve had many different “jobs” over the years, and quite a few “managers” that weren’t good at managing. I decided about 10 years ago that I was going to be my OWN BOSS…. eventually. But I had no idea how to make it happen, or if it was even a possibility. My younger brother had started his own business, and convinced me that I too, could be a business owner if I really wanted to work at making it happen. I was always verbally “putting it out there in the universe” that I wanted to make money doing what I love…. Photography. – Well, covid hit, and I lost my job in January 2020. I was completely miserable at that job, and dreamed about leaving on a daily basis. So to me, being let go was one of the best things that ever happened to me. So I thought “NOW’S MY CHANCE TO MAKE MY DREAM COME TRUE!!” – The country was on lock-down confined to their homes. Many people were scared & felt lonely. Right around that time, I started seeing photos for the “Front Porch Project”. In other parts of the country, there were people getting their family photos taken from their front porch. If I did that in our town, it’d make people happy, and I’d be able to get some photography practice in. So, I started posting on Facebook that I was offering up the Front Porch Project photos to families in the Prescott Valley area, at no charge. I instantly received a hand full of people that wanted to take advantage of the offer. During quarantine, I photographed approximately 20 families. I’d drive to their home, park in the street, and take photos from the yards. There were families that were ecstatic, because they had never had family portraits taken. It made my heart SO happy to be able to do that for them. Gradually, I started offering mini-sessions at a discounted price. I’ve since built up a clientele and my confidence in my abilities, and as of 2022 I have been photographing full-time. It feels amazing to know that I DID IT!! I put my mind to it, the stars aligned, and my dream came true!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2020 my photography business was born (Sarah Seisinger Photography). I’ve been published in a couple different magazines; I’ve put out a calendar and donated the proceeds to the U.S. Vets of Prescott; In 2021, Vintage Photo Co. was born. I had seen a few other photo booth trailers around, and have always been fascinated by them. I love anything vintage, and had a certain vibe I wanted to create with vintage decor. I personally design the booth’s touch screen and photo strips to match the client’s event. We can customize colors, themes, logos, photos, backdrops, etc. Everyone that enters “Tessie” (our trailer) comments on how beautiful and cozy it feels in there. The smiles on their faces when they receive their photo strips, make me so happy! Vintage Photo Co. is not just a plain ‘ol photo booth… it is an experience. And the photo strips are an amazing “party favor” for your guests.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona is absolutely gorgeous. I love that you can drive 2 hours in any direction, and be in a whole different “world”. The Prescott area is definitely a fun place to visit. My big city out of towners love the small town feel. The must-sees in Prescott are Whiskey Row and the courthouse on the square, The restaurants we’d have to eat at would be Prescott Brewing Co., Farm Provisions, Nick’s Feed Your Face, Rosa’s, and Colt Grill BBQ. I’d also have to take them to Plaza Bonita & Casa Perez in Prescott Valley. The Mexican food here is amazing, especially compared to the Midwest where myself and my out of town guests would be coming from. Other than that, I’d make sure to drive them up through Jerome, down through Cottonwood, over to Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon, up Schnebley Hill, and drive Highway 17 back to Prescott Valley. Maybe stopping in Camp Verde on the way home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In 2021, I met a local entrepreneur who’s goal is to help raise up other entrepreneurs. She had asked to call me one night, and just gave me all sorts of encouraging words regarding my photography business. We ended up becoming friends, and by the end of the year, we were co-owners of “Vintage Photo Co.” It’s a cute little vintage Field & Stream camper that we’ve gutted and remodeled. Our photo booth trailer went live in February of 2022. She has another trailer (BLimitless.com) and multiple other businesses. So between my dream of owning a vintage photo booth trailer, and her knowledge & experience in owning and running a trailer business…. our business has been super successful, and my photography business has been growing and thriving as well. I’ve learned SOOOO MUCH from her, and love being business partners. Thank you Skinny (Deanica Tomlinson) for always encouraging me, teaching me, and having patience with me. We make such an great team. 🙂
