Meet Miriam Johnson | Owner of Neuro Optimized Wellness

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miriam Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miriam, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to be focused on doing whatever it takes. This was not only my subconscious mantra regarding my employment but for many areas of my life – how I cleaned my house, how I socialized, and how I pursued goals. I was a slave to the never-ending “shoulds” in my mind. I lived in my head with endless self-imposed to-do lists awaiting me. I pushed myself to achieve, excel, to do all I wanted to do. It was my usual.
I am no longer willing to do whatever it takes. I am not willing to neglect those things that I have come to realize are the essence of life, the things that matter – spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being, and taking time to cultivate wholesome relationships. Achievement is no longer my measure of success or satisfaction. Slowing down to nurture and create enjoyment, well-being, and joy each day by practicing intentional stress management is what I have come to value. It enables me to be more present and helpful to others and more skillful in all I do. It’s about spending my time in meaningful and fulfilling ways in all areas of my life including work, role modeling a gentle compassionate way of living.

What should our readers know about your business?
I find it much more satisfying and fulfilling to view others in my business space as teammates rather than competitors. What sets each of us apart is the uniqueness of our perspectives, our life experiences, and our skill sets. It’s the intention of the person or people behind the business or endeavor that matters.
Mental and emotional stress and anxiety have become a part of our daily life. We are no longer dealing with singular problems or situations, but multiple pressures and difficulties weigh upon us simultaneously, and not for short periods of time but perpetually. People with neurological, sleep, mood and attention issues often don’t find relief with conventional treatments or would prefer to avoid intense conventional approaches and medications. These individuals are turning to minimally invasive Micro Current Neurofeedback to find relief. Being able to think more clearly and deal with daily frustrations and changes with calmness and confidence is priceless. I want to give as many as possible that opportunity. IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback (MCN) makes that attainable in a real and lasting way.
What makes MCN different from traditional bio/neurofeedback is that it requires no patient participation. IASIS MCN allows you to simply relax while being treated. Brief tiny signals transmitted to the brain do all the work for you. Due to environmental factors, stress, sickness, or injuries the brain can become unbalanced leaving one with symptoms ranging from brain fog, poor memory, and unwanted repetitive thoughts to more debilitating cognitive and emotional challenges. The safe, revolutionary technology of IASIS MCN uses tiny pulses of energy to gently shift the brain out of dysfunctional patterns allowing the brain to “reboot”. The result? The brain and nervous system have a greater ability to regulate, and the brain regains a healthier neurochemical balance. IASIS MCN is increasingly being used to create optimal brain performance for a range of neurological issues including TBI, PTSD, autism, depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, migraines, addiction, insomnia, and many more. Typical responses within the first few treatments are mental clarity, a sense of calmness, clearer senses, improved concentration and memory, more restorative sleep, and a lifting of the “fog” associated with many brain imbalance disorders.
Just as your body benefits from ‘a tune up’, so can your mind. Knowing this technology is available and seeing how it has changed the lives of so many – gaining their life back from merely existing to truly living again – or even just making someone’s day-to-day life easier and more enjoyable is what excites me in this opportunity to assist others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the outdoors, and so do most of my friends! Here in the Wickenburg area, I would take advantage of Happy Trails Adventure Off-Road Rentals and spend a day riding some of the many trails through the unique and scenic desert landscapes just out of town.
The Hassayampa River Preserve is another beautiful place to spend an afternoon. The Hassayampa River flows only underground for most of its 100-mile course through the desert, but within the preserve its clear waters emerge, flowing above the ground throughout the year creating a lush streamside habitat. It’s an oasis in the desert. With its peaceful surroundings and abundance of old growth trees it’s a wonderful place to reconnect with nature with an invigorating nature walk.
For a day of indulgent self-care and R&R the Alvea Spa at Wickenburg Ranch, a Trilogy Community, is the place to go. You’ll truly feel pampered.
In the Phoenix area, the incredible Musical Instrument Museum is not to be missed. It is ranked in the top 12 museums in the United States and is uniquely special. Vast and memorable are the two descriptors that fit it perfectly.
The Scottsdale area is one of my favorite areas to spend time in terms of unique venues and dining options.
The Kierland Commons would be a stimulating day or half-day experience for some shopping and entertainment. Lunch at True Food Kitchen is never a disappointment. They have struck a magnificent balance between health-conscious and delicious, creative options. Always flavorful and nutrient-rich with fresh seasonal ingredients.
For some nostalgia, an afternoon spent in Old Town Scottsdale is always fun, walking the shop-lined streets and admiring the original decades-old architecture of the buildings. You never know what you’ll find in the eclectic variety of shops. And you’ll be in the right spot for the best pizza in Phoenix: Grimaldi’s Pizzeria – Serving traditional coal-fired brick-oven pizza with only fresh ingredients, originating in Brooklyn over 100 years ago. The flavor can’t be beat!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many I would like to thank and give credit and honor to but…
I can think of no one on earth whose efforts, support, love, and encouragement have been more meaningful and unwavering than that of my life partner, and husband Scott. Thank you for all that and all the big and little things in between!
