Meet Correy and Alycia Plunkett | Travel Planners

We had the good fortune of connecting with Correy and Alycia Plunkett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Correy and Alycia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Traveling is a passion of ours, it allows us to share new experiences and creates moments of vulnerability to bring us closer. We also learn about other cultures and witness how much more there is to life outside of ours. We want to share these learning experiences with others and present travel to an audience that may not have been exposed to it otherwise. We aim to educate and help others to embark on these expeditions that create lifelong memories.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are both consultants. Our day jobs have afforded us the opportunity to travel the way we do. We have learned many lessons throughout our professional careers. Correy, working in the food industry as a manager of people turned internal safety consultant, has learned the importance of connecting with people and building genuine relationships. One of the things we love the most while traveling is connecting with natives to receive an authentic experience. Alycia, working in procurement for a Fortune 500 company as a young African American female and navigating the nuisances of a white male dominated industry and having to create a path and voice to advocate for herself. Eventually starting her own consultant firm and working with a boutique consultant firm developing confidence to be an industry leader and set the example of what it means to believe in yourself. We have been inspired to do what we love and World Citizens Travel is that. We are working to create a brand that supports the unheard and provide resources to those that may not otherwise receive them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First thing would be a getaway to Sedona. A stay at the Hilton for some relaxation and exploration. We’d hang out at the bar for happy hour and get a massage in at the Eforea spa. We’d grab some food at Butterfly Burger and dine in at Cucina Rustica. While we aren’t eating or relaxing we’d explore the amazing hiking trails in the area like Devil’s Bridge, Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock and many others. And when it’s time for some retail therapy we’d head to uptown Sedona to checkout the unique shops in the area. Next part of town we’d head to is Tempe, right between Phoenix and Scottsdale, perfect location to explore all things big city. We’d have to hike Camelback Mountain and checkout the Hole in the Rock for frills. And since we’re in the area take a stroll through the Desert Botanical garden. We could grab a bite to eat at the Culinary Drop Out and dine at Citizens Public House. Before it’s all said and done we’d make some time to check out the Musical Instrument Museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To God be the glory. He brought us together and gave us the vision to create World Citizens Travel. We never knew that something we love to do would give us a platform to reach others and inspire. We’re just grateful to explore God’s beautiful creation and hopefully help others to do the same.
