We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie N. Katz, Psy.D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie N., can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When starting my own business, the thought process was one of intuition. Since the 10th grade, I knew I wanted to be a Psychologist and own my own private practice. After completing my doctoral program, I decided to take the risk and open Katz Psychological Services, PLLC. It was the best decision I’ve made in my life so far and I am so glad I trusted my intuition and, was able to bring this dream to fruition.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Katz Psychological Services, PLLC, is a private practice located in North Scottsdale. We specialize in providing bespoke care to our clients. We focus primarily on treating children and adolescents, but we also enjoy working with adult clients as well. We believe in catering to our clients unique needs and capitalizing on their strengths in order to assist them with achieving their full potential. Dr. Katz wants the world to know that you are not alone and it’s never too late to make meaningful changes in your life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to one of our fabulous resorts here in the valley, probably the Biltmore for a few days where we could hang by the pool, go shopping, and dine at great restaurants. Then, we would head up to Sedona for a weekend of exploring the red rocks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents have been the key to my success. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without their unwavering love and support. Whether I am celebrating a success or devastated over struggles and worry, they are always there, in my corner. Thank you mom and dad, for seeing my potential before I did.

The book and movie, Girl Interrupted By Susanna Kaysen is credited for planting the seed of psychology within me when I was 16 years old. It emerged me into the world of psychology and before I knew it, I was hooked. So, thank you, Susanna, for being brave enough to put your story down on paper and sharing it with the world.
