Meet Adele L | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adele L and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adele, what do you attribute your success to?
What is the most important factor behind my success? What a way to make a girl think on her feet. haha. I would say the most important factor in being a Photographer (at least for me) is that I did it ON MY OWN. I had a passion that i just happened to be good at and I decided one day to quit my 8-5 and just go for it. I took the leap with $300 in my pocket and the rest is history. I have never taken out a loan, I have never asked for help, and I have NEVER looked back. For anyone that has a passion, just go for it. Be successful just for YOURSELF. Don’t let anyone stand in your way.
What should our readers know about your business?
EMC Photography Studio is a business like no other. We focus on Families, Children, Love, Glamour & Weddings. Starting this business in 2011 wasn’t easy. I was a single mom, enrolled full time in university, with $300 in my account. I quit my 8-5 to pursue a passion and not everyone in my family & friend circle was on board. I struggled, I cried, I worked my BUTT off. And here we are. . . in 2023 and I am making almost 6 figures a year. I am not only proud of myself, but I am thankful to those select few who believed in me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved to Yuma, Arizona in 2015 from Southern California and never looked in the rearview once. If a friend came to visit me in my area, I would take them to lunch at the famous Lutes Casino (make sure to slide in the haunted history of the location) and take them on a tour of our historical main streets. I would explain that 3:10 to Yuma is not as accurate as the entertainment industry may have you believe, and we would tour the Famous Yuma territorial prison. A lot of people who mention Arizona think Phoenix or Tucson and those are amazing places to visit. But never forget about the little towns that put so much love and effort into what you see and feel when you visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The one person who deserve the most credit in my success is my grandfather. He was the one who helped me understand photography from the bottom. I’m talking lighting with a 35mm canon camera. He was the one that had the passion in the first place. So why not follow in his footsteps? He supported me when no one else would, he cheered me on when I looked around to see mad faces, and he handed me the largest gift I could have ever asked for. . . his love & acceptance. It isn’t easy starting a photography business, let alone starting it from the ground up, but I made it work, and I couldn’t have done it without his support. I miss him every day however I feel him with every single photo I take. I know wherever he is, he’s proud of me & my success.
