We had the good fortune of connecting with Aidan Houlihan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aidan, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I made was moving my wife and I from Albuquerque to Phoenix. At the time I had made that decision and began preparing for the move, the clinic had not yet been established. I was making periodic trips every month or so to start seeing patients in the Phoenix area, but we did not have our own location and it was difficult to maintain a steady caseload. Seeing the success that Karen and Susan had achieved with the business in Albuquerque, I put my trust in them and their ability to bring their vision to fruition and took a leap of faith. I am excited to be able to provide a previously unavailable service to the Phoenix area!
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My creative passion is photography. My favorite muse is my wife and her effortless ability to embellish any of the already stunning scenes we have visited together. Wildlife is a close second! Don’t even get me started about my wife and wildlife captured in the same photo. I think there is something magical about freezing a fleeting moment in time- each detail elucidated in a way that wouldn’t be possible in real time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have only been in Phoenix for a couple weeks so I may not be qualified to answer this question, but I have already been able to experience so much! Spur Cross Ranch Conservation area was a stunning hike (recommended by a patient, thanks S.Y. If you’re reading this!), the Botanical Garden was beautiful, Papago Park is a desert oasis, La Santisima has sensational tacos, the Mac&cheese at The Montauk will change your life, and Wonderspaces at Fashion Square Mall is a fantastic interactive art exhibit!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to recognize the enormous role my wife has played in supporting me throughout our relationship and our marriage. She uprooted herself and followed me to PT school, a school that was located 2,500 miles away from our home, and navigated the madness of getting married during my first semester. She kept me sane and supported me moving from New Hampshire to Rhode Island for a clinical rotation, back to New Hampshire, back to New Mexico for a Covid clinical, to Seattle, to Cape Cod for another clinical, back to New Mexico, and now out here to Phoenix. I really put her through it! She is my best friend and I am remarkably lucky to have had her with me through all of this.
