We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Torrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The irony is that I’ve had businesses, but no true sense of a true business mindset until the pandemic. I used that time to relaunch the business with all the correct entities in place. The process has been about creating another stream of income that I can control, the ability to hire family and grow and expand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I’ve learned in the past 20 years is that I am a teacher and giver of information! That has transcended my business practices and is the main reason I’ve sustained while reinventing my purpose and platform. Professionally, maintaining my authenticity resonates with my brand, and my audience has grown with me. We have mutual respect.

In business, we all face challenging moments and my diligence has been to never quit and try other areas in my industry to ignite my passion again. At a time I was limiting myself to only beauty. That is why this next chapter is so amazing. My proudest moment is rebranding from LPXBA to Say Lexx. This will allow fluidity into spaces we’ve never participated in and create new opportunities. My goal is to build a pathway for others to consider entrepreneurship, we all have a skill that is marketable, you just have to apply it to the right spaces.

Explore all elements of business, find people you can collaborate with or a mentor, and don’t gatekeep information. Your business is something you construct from the ground up, and that ownership can sometimes make it difficult to ask for help. I was that person and my business stagnated. When I was able to build a community as a collective of people we all flourished from the shared passion, knowledge, and creativity. If I could leave Alexism it would be “stop limiting yourself to your comfort zone, no magic can exist there”!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a Phoenician, this is how our schedule of activities would go!

Monday- Antelope Canyon for a scenic moment
Tuesday – Brunch at the Farm at South Mountain
Wednesday- Phoenix Art Museum and Lunch at Fried Bread House
Thursday – Hike to the top of “A” Mountain (Forks Up)
Friday- Drive to Sedona for a swim and grab some Spring water!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve met so many amazing people along this journey. One person, in particular, is Shay Stay Stanislas. Initially, I hired her and we became fast friends and have been cheerleading and supporting each other since that time. She’s very savvy and allows me to soak up her knowledge to enhance my business. A true leader that will push you to your potential.
