We had the good fortune of connecting with Alice Vath and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alice, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
When most people think of psychics and tarot readings, they envision what’s shown in pop culture: inevitable doom foretold in a dark room. In reality, the main point of my use of tarot is to understand myself better, and to help my clients understand themselves. Our lives are full of cycles and patterns that begin in our childhood. It can be very difficult to break out of these patterns, and it’s nearly impossible until we begin to recognize what they are and how they affect us. Tarot cards are a tool to help us unlock answers that we already carry inside us. My goal with every session, whether it’s a tarot reading or different work, is to help my clients understand themselves on a deeper level in order to make true changes in their lives that lead them to their purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I offer tarot readings, intuitive counseling, dream work sessions, as well as classes. When I first started studying tarot it was mostly out of curiosity. I didn’t know anything about its history or origins or even how it was used today by people all over the world. The more I studied and worked with my first deck of tarot cards, the more I knew that tarot would be with me for life. I learned things about myself that I hadn’t consciously known, and yes of course I used the cards for some future prediction as well! It took me about 3 years of constant studying to feel truly confident at giving readings to other people; once I started working with my tutor on developing my intuition and psychic abilities a lot of new things started happening for me.
My business started with tarot readings, but I do deeper work as well. Intuitive counseling is a type of session where a client and I have a conversation about a problem, and I rely on information I pick up psychically as well as my intuition to give guidance and clarity.
One of the most interesting things that’s happened for me in the past couple of years is realizing that I am able to have dreams for other people. I’ve always had a very active dream life, and sometimes it was clear that the dreams held psychic information for me or someone I knew. But I have now learned how to dream with the intent of receiving messages and information for other people, and those sessions are often the deepest and most meaningful ones for my clients.
I also offer classes – I’m currently about halfway through teaching a 7 week Tarot for Beginners Course and have loved every minute of helping my students develop their relationship to the cards. I’m currently creating a class on Dream Interpretation, as well as an Intermediate Tarot Course. In the meantime, I always offer one-on-one classes on my website for people who want a more private and personalized lesson.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first thing I would want people to experience is the amazing desert in Tucson. There are so many beautiful places to hike – my favorite trails are the ones where I don’t see anyone else! My favorite thing to do when I have the time is find a trail and just soak it all in. Unless it happens to be summer, in which case my favorite activity shifts to staring at the night sky. I would definitely take a friend to go hang out at the Mercado San Augustin and the MSA Annex. So many cool shops and restaurants there! My favorite market to do short tarot readings is the MSA Night Market summer series. Hanging out in the desert at night and giving readings is definitely my idea of a good time. The vibe there is amazing and I’m already looking forward to going back in May 2022.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My interest in tarot began when my tattoo artist Anya Gladun (@tattoosbyanya) began drawing her own deck years ago. And my gifts increased exponentially when I started working with my tutor Nicki Durga (@nickidurga).
