Meet Alisa Flowers | Candle maker & mother

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisa Flowers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisa, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I have a 22 year old daughter and a 5 year old son and the most important thing I’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact on them was be mindful of what they see from me on a daily basis.

I was mindful of how I responded in high stress situations, how I spoke around them, my daily schedule, etc., and this resulted in them learning how to independently make wise decisions in many areas.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Elegance Candle Co. to add a little bit of elegance to our environment. There’s a lot of bold things in this world and I wanted to create something neutral in appearance, high quality, and I also wanted to provide exclusive scents.

I’m excited about my latest release, a two wick peach rose candle in a white frosted vessel, available on 3/12/22.

There’s a lot of testing needed for each fragrance released and it’s challenging when a new problem comes to the surface and there’s no manual to assist you. I’ve learned that it’s best to stay calm and create solutions for every hurdle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A few years ago I felt stagnant in my medical career and my nephew David said “Do you think this means you should focus on opening your candle business?” That’s when it clicked and all made sense. I then put all of my free time into officially opening my business and I’m forever grateful for that push.
