We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
People generally think finding a home and getting it under contract is the toughest/largest part of our job. In reality most of the work comes in the days and weeks following. Navigating a sale from contract to close can be incredibly difficult. It is often a delicate dance between multiple parties, and in that dance sometimes there is loss. We are responsible for managing emotions, expectations and overall getting it done with the ultimate goal of handing over keys at the end!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Real Estate business came about very organically. It was the year that I lost my father and dear Papa, I was a bit lost in general following that. At that time my daughter was only 2, and I was working in professional kitchens as a chef. I have a background and degree in hospitality; so, when an unexpected opportunity came to get into Real Estate, the ultimate “service” it stoked that fire that already existed in a new exciting new way.

We had already purchased our first home ourselves with an agent my whole family used at the time and I remember thinking to myself while on the cusp of getting licensed, “our whole experience was a bit lackluster- I think I can do that AND make it more enjoyable for everyone.”

I first began on a team and made $0 for 6 months! It was unbelievably discouraging. Real Estate has a “posh” lifestyle stereotype, so to me I could not believe how hard it was to make that first dollar. I am incredibly persistent and knew I needed to change my approach- I was simply in the wrong room. Soon after I was pulled into another direction with a brokerage that did a lot of single agent training. I knew this is what would take me further, faster. I was properly aligned. I quickly learned how to leverage social media and establish a database of people who I already know and began doing business with them first. I worked very hard and was very fortunate during those first years to establish a strong database of clients who would continue to refer me.

In 2021 and 2022 I was rewarded with the National Association of Realtors 40 under 40 award as a single agent. At that point I had the itch to level up yet again and moved to eXp Realty. I remained solo for a couple years, soaking in all that I could from our new brokerage, but realized in 2023 that I needed to fine tune that change with the market evolving. So, after being a solo agent for 7 years, I joined a phenomenal team (Shoutout to Shelby DiBiase) in 2024. I realized I had gaps in my systems and processes that needed improvement to remain relevant as our world becomes more and more inundated with tech. This change opened my eyes to a new level of collaboration I didn’t realize I was missing. I went from a big fish in a small pond to a freaking tadpole in a room of inspirational leaders willing to open their door, share secrets and cheer me on.

My story is actually not that unusual or unique, but what I’d like everyone to know is that it takes a tremendous amount of resilience, dedication and eternal optimism to survive as a Realtor. 75% of new agents leave within one year and by year 5 that number goes to 83%. I feel truly honored every day that I get to remain in this incredible position of trust, one of the 17%ers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have so many great spots in the valley this is a tall order!
I love the Biltmore/ Arcadia area of Phoenix so would definitely spend a day exploring that. Hike Camelback mountain or Piestewa peak- brunch at Chelseas Kitchen on the patio. Dinner on the rooftop at Global Ambassador, Thea.
Old town Scottsdale is also usually a must for visitors. There’s so many great dining spots, bars and shopping – too many to name. If you’re looking for a fun and impressive dinner, you can’t go wrong with Maple & Ash.
Downtown I would definitely check out a game or event if there’s something going on. Bad Jimmy’s is the best burger joint in the area and for a more fine dining feel Wren & Wolf would be my go-to or any of their sister concepts.
North Scottsdale also has some great hiking at Pinnacle Peak and plenty of dining. One of my favorite spots is Hush Public house for an intimate dining spot with amazing food. Closeby is High Street at Desert Ridge which is a fun night out!
If you’re in during Cardinals season, catch a game and hang in the west valley’s Westgate district. There’s Top Golf, PopStroke, Pickleball and all sorts of fun stuff over there!
Lastly, I would carve a day or two for Sedona and Flagstaff if possible. Sedona being first on my list since you can’t see red rocks like that just anywhere!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has always been my greatest support in my business journey, especially my mother. She left corporate America when I was starting high school and started her own CPA practice. As a single mom, it was a huge leap of faith leaving the comfort and stability to pave her own way. I witnessed her journey, which was at times grueling, but ultimately paid off. When I did the same thing to start Real Estate she was a beacon of support and encouragement. It takes some time to gain traction in this industry, and so I also would be remiss to not shoutout the support of my husband as well. The first two years were such a financial rollercoaster but he held the family down with grace and determination.
