We had the good fortune of connecting with Amara The Muse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amara, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that contributed to my success, other than deciding to work for myself, was investing in into my craft and personal development. By committing to ongoing showcases and sessions along with skill-building, and self-improvement, I was able to learn and, adapt to new music scenes, and develop a growth mindset that propelled my success. This decision not only enhanced my expertise and credibility in my music but also allowed me to build a strong foundation for long-term growth and sustainability in my career as an artist. Embracing a lifelong learning mindset empowered me to innovate, and seize opportunities that ultimately led to my achievements.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The biggest thing that allows me to stand out from other artists, especially in my field is that I’m willing to Play any position of the field when it comes to art, it’s much bigger than me. I believe music is a great experience for everyone to enjoy and just being able to be a part of anything possible allows me to fulfill that purpose. it also helps me sharpen my own skills as well as understand and appreciate music on a deeper level than just being the front runner. I feel that you can learn anything by just experiencing and understanding the preparation that comes with the art.
I’ve gotten to where I am in my career by learning. Continuing to grow in my craft, as well as becoming a student of the game has really allowed me to open my mind set up to receive any type of criticism advice or new trades. Just buy a mercy myself deep with the culture. I have learned so much in the short period of time that I didn’t think I’d be able to grasp a year ago, which is completely amazing to me just doing the groundwork has shaped me up to be the person who I am now.
The space where I am now is an artist it took a while to get here, especially since I’ve been doing music since I was seven years old. It’s been hard for me to be OK with the art that I create because I am my biggest critic and once I realize that art isn’t so attached to your emotions, you never know who may need the music that you’ve made in this period in time just because it’s something older doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s outdated human emotions are continuously, evolving, and being able to have something to gravitate to or put out that can allow someone to feel seen or heard is what makes it worth it but for me, it was trying to reprogram my mind to realize that everything that I make doesn’t need to be heavily critique by me Because whom ever receives it, they appreciate what it is just because they can resonate with it.
Intern, I have learned that it’s OK to be gentle on yourself when it comes to your art don’t overly critique what you have created because there’s beauty and everything being able to express yourself truly a blessing, whether it be yourself or whether it be for others to connect with.
Anybody were to take anything away from my story it would be to extend yourself grace you have to do that on a daily basis because our minds can be a harsh critic and by allowing yourself grace you’re able to treat yourself a little bit better as well extend to others Because we’re all human trying to live this experience. I just wanna be able to spread love and positivity through my art. I believe music is an integral language that we all share as people.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit from out of town I would first take them to a nice brunch spot. My favorite brunch spot which is kitchen in Arcadia, then we’d head off to a nice little activity such as pottery I think it’s really cool. There’s a pottery spot in Phoenix called pips and clay. Then I would end the night off with a live music scene preferably jazz music at the Womack, that would be my little night
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I honestly would love to shout out anyone who has given me an opportunity of helping hand along the way support, especially in the scene is greatly appreciated with the market and Arizona being so small. It’s just very refreshing and heartwarming to see your community support you as much as they do.
As well as my family, and friends who have supported me thoroughly through. It’s not all the time that you have people who are willing to support you and continuously encourage you about something that you’re passionate about so I’m forever grateful and appreciative to have a support system in my family.
