We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana De Castro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, what are you inspired by?
My biggest motivation and inspiration is nature. I always find it a way to work naturally and emphasize the simplest things.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I live on art! All kinds. I learned to sing when I was 9 years old, I always liked drawing and always had a camera with me. I believe that what makes me stand out from others has always been my free spirit and my curiosity; I am a free soul and world traveler. I love people, places & different cultures; That’s why I always went deep into knowing and understanding other cultures. I worked as a videographer and photographer for a few years in Brazil and I started to get extremely stressed with the pressure, so I decided to move to California to start over and try a new carrier, find new hobbies and grow as a person. After 6 years here, I realized I can not be far away from the lens, so I decided to invest time & love in what really makes me happy and complete, travel, art, photo & video! Since then, I created my own business, a texture art business, where I paint and also host workshops where I teach people how to paint, and I also work as a photographer and videographer. What I can say and would like the world to know, is that I am here with the mission of helping whoever I can with my art and also capturing their essence through my lens. My goal when I photograph is to capture your essence, soul and your most natural beauty.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Every time a friend or family member comes to visit, I like to show them the most local places possible. Of course, sometimes we have to check out the tourist attractions, but I like living in the reality of the places. Like road trips along the coast, stopping at small coffee shops and small businesses in small towns, national parks, hiking and anything related to nature.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly, I am very grateful for having been born and raised in a country with a lot of culture (Brazil), and with a family that taught me to see the simplicity of things; be authentic, realistic and have a good character.
