We had the good fortune of connecting with Analaura DeVary and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Analaura, how does your business help the community?
My business helps the community by giving hope to individuals and families needing help with day-to-day life. For the individual, it often gives them companionship, help with daily life activities, and much more. For the family, it’s giving them peace of mind that their loved one is being cared for with compassion.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business, Senior Helpers of Gilbert & Chandler, specializes in providing compassionate home care primarily for seniors in the community. We offer non-medical assistance tailored to meet the individual needs of our clients, including those with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, and those recovering from surgery. Our dedicated team is committed to enhancing the quality of life for our clients and supporting families in their caregiving journey. We also try to have an active role in the community, such as providing VR experiences to seniors, activities and crafts as well as Veteran meetups and benefits education, we aim to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors and their loved ones.
What sets us apart is that we are often a lifeline for the families we work with. When we connect with them, it’s because there has been an unexpected change in health or they have reached a point where they need other options. Not only are we dedicated to offering personalized home care but we also do a complementary assessment to help identify any potential hospitalization risks. We focus on quality, ensuring every client gets tailored support for independent living. Plus, our ongoing caregiver training and community involvement make us a trusted choice for senior care. This oftentimes makes us a lifeline for the families.
I am most excited for things to come. For example, we recently launched a postpartum program designed to help moms with postpartum care. This program consists of assistance with tasks, light housekeeping, meal prep, and transportation. This would take so much weight off Mom’s shoulders that I’m so happy to be able to provide this type of support.
I also enjoy using my creativity at work. Last year, I came up with the idea to have a Valentine’s Day Card Drive last year and we received over 1,200 cards. This year other franchises joined in and we collectively were able to spread the love to 31,000 seniors, which goes to show how one idea can grow into something bigger. It’s not just about a business mentality, it’s also about giving back.
Before starting Senior Helpers of Gilbert & Chandler, I was a top-performing Account Executive at a major delivery platform. I enjoyed taking a consultative approach with the businesses that I would speak with and learning about them. I would sometimes even help them develop ghost kitchens to generate extra revenue. I realized that I was investing so much effort in growing someone else’s business and brand. So there was a point when I thought, why not build something for myself?
I think every business has its challenges. I can’t say there is one specific challenge that stands out to me. It’s mostly about being humble and learning how to overcome them as they come. I am naturally an inquisitive person which helps me take different strategies to grow.
I would like people to know that they don’t have to be alone with their struggles. We are here to help. Rather it’s a family seeking care for their spouse, or loved one or a new mom seeking help at home. We genuinely care about helping improve their quality of life. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all mentality so it’s so great to be able to provide customized care to their needs.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
These are some of my faves:
Brunch: Palma, Call her Martina, Toca Madera, Francine, Hash Kitchen
Happy Hour: Canal Club, Joy Ride, Sotol, Postinos
Late Night Drinks: Alchemy 48, White Rabbit
Dinner: Espiritu, Sottise, Pa’la, Mon Cheri, Maple & Ash, Aquadimare
Dessert: Outcast Doughnuts, Toasted Mallow, Great Gadsby Bakery
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to say, my mom. She went from being a homemaker to being a sole provider which showed me what resilience and dedication are like. She has also been my biggest supporter. I have taken some chances moving away from home and then across the country and I feel like she never doubted me. At the time everyone thought I was a little crazy to take such a big leap of faith but she never questioned it. She was more about giving me the support to make my own path and if I succeeded great and if I didn’t I knew it would be ok.
