We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I have always been so passionate about making this world a better place, and I believe the best way to do that is to create more healing and understanding through connecting on a deeper level with ourselves, each other, the natural world of plants and animals, as well as the spiritual and metaphysical world. I am a Psychic Medium and Shamanic Practitioner and everything I do is centered around healing on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. One of the things I love the most in my work is called Plant Spirit Medicine or Plant Spirit Healing. The founder of “Plant Spirit Medicine” in the way I learned it was Eliot Cowan, and it was taught to me by my wonderful teacher and friend Shaman Elder Teague Eskelsen. In the words of Eliot Cowan, “Plant Spirit Medicine is a form of healing that is rooted in ancestral traditions that combine ancient Chinese Five Element theory with the indigenous practice of calling upon plant spirits to heal.” All plants have their own consciousness or spirit, and are each uniquely different in the kind of healing they offer. I have never found anything more powerful than calling on plant spirits to create harmony and balance within a person. There is so much magic in the natural world, and the lack of attunement to this as a collective is creating illness within ourselves and is harming the Earth we live on. It is my intention to teach and pass on the wisdom of the natural world, for it is in this connection that we can and will bring peace and harmony to humanity including the entire ecosystem we live in.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would consider myself incredibly blessed to have a career doing what I love! I am so passionate about healing that nothing else was ever going to truly work for me. In my work I do Psychic and Mediumship readings, Shamanic Energy Clearings, Soul Retrieval, Plant Spirit Healing, Emotional & Inner Child Healing, Relationship Healing, Divine Feminine/Womb Healing, teach classes and workshops, etc… Being a Psychic Medium and doing readings for people wasn’t what I originally planned on doing, though I have always been intuitive, and especially so once I reached my early twenties. My plan was to be a healer and a teacher, not a psychic reader, but being a reader was an essential step on my journey. I have found that doing readings can be just as healing and rewarding as my other work. It has also pushed me into a deeper depth of trust within myself and with spirit.

Until the age of 19, I had no idea what I wanted to be, and feeling very lost I found my way to a spiritual retreat called “Inner Child”, not knowing that this was truly the beginning of a lifelong journey to fulfilling my purpose here on this earth. My profound awakening to who I really am and what I’m truly passionate about happened at that retreat. Once I decided to be a spiritual healer and teacher I dived right in and never looked back.

Since then, I have had many challenges stepping fully into my power and my gifts. I spent about 10 years mostly learning, growing and healing myself. I would teach classes on spirituality and energy healing. I also became a Reiki Master Teacher and would do energy work on the side for a few clients here and there. But what really changed everything for me was when I met my Shaman Teague Eskelsen. I traveled to her Animal Sanctuary where I experienced some of the most profound and deepest healing of my life. After an offer from her to live and work on her sanctuary, I decided to uproot myself from Salt Lake City, Utah and move South East to her property in the La Sal Mountains. As scared as I was at the time to leave my family and the only home I’d ever known, I knew in my heart it was the right choice. I became the caretaker of the lodging facilities, the full time mother to 18 rescued cats and part time mother to the rescued horses, dogs and a few other farm animals. It was the hardest and most rewarding work of my life. Living and working there challenged me in every possible way. I learned how to have better boundaries and be more confident and assertive. I learned to trust myself, and follow my heart no matter how risky it seemed. I learned that every time I take a chance on myself the universe is right there to support me. I learned that when I release resistance, breathe through my fear and lean into life, magic happens!

Teague encouraged me to travel and spread my wings, and I did that by going on a solo adventure to France, England, Scotland and Ireland. I had always dreamed of going to these places, but never really thought I could. When the chance to travel presented itself, I took a big leap of faith. It was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. I learned and always continue to learn that if I have a dream, all I need to do is take the first step and the Universe will provide the second, third, fourth and so on! All I have to do is follow my heart, and follow my heart is exactly what I did as I moved on to my next adventure in Sedona, Arizona. A dozen or so leaps of faith later, I am now living in Sedona with my own healing space doing what I love, and more successful than ever!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sedona is so amazingly beautiful, and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the hike’s in this area. That being said, one of my favorite places is the Boynton Canyon Vortex. This is the Masculine/Feminine vortex and is the residing place of Kachina Woman and Warrior Man. There is a Hopi legend connected to these two rock beings, and the energy there is very special to me. Another of my favorites would be Doe Mountain – which is breathtaking if you get to the top just after sunrise, with the light shining over the valley it can look quite mystical. I also love to swim in Oak Creek, and anywhere you can get to the creek is going to be lovely – a couple of options are West Fork Trail and Crescent Moon Ranch. As far as food goes, one of my favorite places to hang out is ChocolaTree Cafe, they have all kinds of vegetarian/vegan delicousness, and a beautiful garden to sit in! Another place with a beautiful garden and some delicious breakfast/brunch is Indian Gardens which is located in Oak Creek Canyon.
And, of course, if you are looking for a healing experience or a psychic reading while visiting Sedona, come check out Sacred Unity Healing with myself and Brighde!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my Shaman Teague Eskelsen. I would not be here without her. She is one of the dearest people to my heart and is the reason I am able to do what I do. The four years I spent living, working and training on her property with her rescued horses, cats and dogs were the most transformational years of my life. Teague helped me create a strong spiritual foundation for myself built on trust and inspiration. Thank you, Teague, for always being such a wonderful friend, guide and mentor. I am forever grateful.
