We had the good fortune of connecting with Anisa Easterbrook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anisa, why did you pursue a creative career?
I originally started out as a journalist however after securing my first job at an International Development charity focused on helping women and girls, I realised there are so many more ways to be able to depict issues. Creativity is a global language we can all understand.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting Kahlo, a design company, has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. My background in Journalism from the London College of Communication and my time spent with minority group publications and not-for-profit organizations gave me a unique perspective on design. I’ve always felt that every organization, big or small, deserves top-notch design. That’s where Kahlo comes in. Teaming up with my best friend’s fiancé, a whiz with computer programming, was a natural and organic step. Together, we’re on a mission to make design accessible and impactful for not-for-profit groups. At Kahlo, we’re all about crafting user-friendly websites that not only look great but also empower organizations to stand on their own feet. We’re big believers in accessibility, ensuring everyone can navigate and enjoy the digital spaces we create. Our approach? It’s all about collaboration. We love chatting with our clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring they’re thrilled with the end result. The journey of Kahlo has been filled with learning and growth, and I’m incredibly proud of where we are today. If there’s one thing I’d love for the world to know, it’s that Kahlo is more than just a design company; it’s a heart-driven venture aiming to make the digital world a more inclusive space.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I currently live in London however if I were in Phoenix again and my best friend wanted me to show them around we’d definitely start our Phoenix adventure with a fun group bicycle ride around Scottsdale. We’d laugh and chat, hopping between cool bars like “The Rusty Spur” and “Kazimierz Wine & Whiskey Bar”. I’d be excited to show them the mesmerizing cacti at the Desert Botanical Garden and the breathtaking views from South Mountain Park. A day trip to Sedona would be on our list, and we’d grab a bite at the scenic “Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill”. Back in Phoenix, we’d wander around the artsy Roosevelt Row and treat ourselves to a meal at the cozy “Barrio Café”. And of course, a visit to the famed “Pizzeria Bianco” is a must! We’d wrap up our memorable week with some chill time at “The Whining Pig” bar, reminiscing about all our fun times. Phoenix, with its mix of urban vibes and natural beauty, would surely give us memories to cherish!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
HUGE shoutout to my dog (a miniature dachshund) who has helped me through the most stressful times when it comes to work!
