We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne Heaven and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anne, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I believe that art and music are simply forms of expression; when we are sad and lonely, we create things with emotions that no other thing can. Similarly, happiness and joy are easily communicated through art and music. It’s amazing how, when everything else fails, music always comes through. Being creative is my journey to discovering myself, and sometimes figuring out my feelings is difficult for me, so I write it all out. It is a goal of mine to be able to connect with others through emotions that they can relate to.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m constantly changing my styles and music genres. I can be a sweet country girl as well as a punk rocker. I’m influenced by the rock era as well as pop, punk, and electronic music. Whatever makes me feel emotions is likely to make an audience feel the same way. I had no idea I’d be able to get as many followers as I do now. I started my channel as a hobby on Instagram @anneheaven0123, and it wasn’t long before I noticed that people like the covers, but even more so, my original songs, which they could relate to. Week after week, I uploaded videos and learned to play the guitar so that I could truly perform my own music. There isn’t a simple solution to everything. But it helped that I enjoyed doing it so much that I didn’t need results to motivate me to do it at first.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Because I’m not a big hiker, I’d probably take them out bar hopping on a Saturday night or for a date night meal by the lake. I enjoy experimenting with different cuisines and ambiences. Anything that makes me forget about the concerns of the world, such as relaxing by the beach and enjoying the calm and quiet, or gazing at the stars from Sedona. But if I go broke that weekend, you’ll have to come over for a sleepover and watch Netflix with me.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you to everyone who supported me through tough times, especially my friends and family, and whoever shaped me through both good and terrible experiences. Above all, I applaud myself for not giving up on myself.
