We had the good fortune of connecting with Annecia Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annecia, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my business has taught me so far is that every day is a learning opportunity.

It’s never to much information to consume to make your business better as well as yourself! Taking different classes and courses are so important. Especially taking classes/courses outside of your field, so you are having all around self development!

I also find it beneficial to learn from your peers, they have different approaches and strategies and it may useful and can be implement.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m Annecia and my business is hairbyannecia!

I like to think what sets me aside from others is my punctuality among other things but this is a big one. I find it hard for a lot of stylist to maintain their time management. I ensure I’m up early enough to get myself together so I’m able to provide an all around good experience from start to finish. Being on time has helped me gain more clients because they have had such bad experiences with being late.

I’m most excited about the growth that’s to come in my business, I’ve had plenty of slow days however I’ve always found ways to increase my clientele which isn’t always easy so I’m excited to see what my future holds. I’ve reached out to a few people and I’m starting to rub hands with the right people and that’s super exciting.

I got where I was today literally by taking a leap of faith. I was working in a shop that was no longer serving its purpose so I decided I have the skills to do this on my own. It was actually easier than I thought to make the transition I truly thought it would be harder trying to get clients, and build my brand but it’s been an ongoing upward journey.

the lessons I’ve learned along the way are there is most certainly a difference between clients, and customers that was my biggest lesson. All money isn’t good money.

I want the world to know that anything is possible when you believe in yourself, you have to take the good with the bad and always choose you. Starting your own business is never easy because you wear so many hats, it tends to become overwhelming but it’s always worth it in the end. I choose to believe in myself two years ago and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whew this is tough because I don’t really do much lol

If I had to plan a few things to do I would always start with the Georgia staples which are the Georgia aquarium, coca-cola factory, and the botanical gardens!

There are so many foods places here I wouldn’t know where to start so I would take them to all I know of lol

I guess this shows I need to get out more huh?! lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to give my girl Brittany Agee a shoutout! She’s been an amazing help in my hair journey!

Any questions I may need insight on she has not hesitated to be there and I truly appreciate her!

She’s been an overall amazing friend and I’ve been grateful to say the least to have her in my life as well as my support system!
