We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Heath and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially, Agape was not created as a business. It started with organizing daily group prayer to be in solidarity with my church home. Along the way, I realized that I created a vitally necessary space. As the community aspect grew, I recognized a gap in the church-going experience. For many, church is exclusively a Sunday thing. Agape is a supplement to the Sunday experience by providing a virtual place to gather. The idea was, and continues to be, identifying a need, and creatively filling said-need.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Agape Prayer Group was founded on prayer and community, and operates as a supplement to both the church experience and our day-to-day. The mission of Agape is to show the unconditional love of the LORD throughout the week. That gets achieved through various ways such as apparel, daily prayer calls, community events, and outreach. Agape is indeed an extension to who I am. I recognize that I have a deeper purpose of establishing and setting certain environments in order for the benefit of the people. So seeing my vision come to life through community is certainly what pleases me the most. I get excited witnessing others blossom in their God-given purpose through a community God blessed me to help cultivate. Although Agape did not start out where it is today, I recognized a need for people to come together outside of Sunday church and gain accountability during times of prayer and fasting. Any business that handles people directly, has its challenges. So if anything, Agape, has developed me personally when it comes people skills and problem solving. The intent of my heart is to ensure that everyone a part of Agape, understands their value in the community. They are heard and seen no matter what, because that is what God’s love does for us. We are in no way, a cult. Agape is more like a revolving door. People can come be a part of our community and leave at their leisure. If the church is like the hospital, then consider Agape urgent care. We’re here to love the way God loves, help heal, pray, and support you in ways you need it the most. Agape is not based on our own abilities, but Jesus. Because Jesus IS the brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t really have a full itinerary, but in that week’s time, we will definitely visit Faith Christian Center. Depending on the line up, Stand Up Live or Tempe Improv are my favorite comedy venues.
As far as restaurants, I have a number of favorites, just depending on the mood. To name a few (in no particular order), LA Crab Shack, West Hut, and Hot Pot Caribbean, If I’m eating vegan that day, then I’d choose either Earth Plant Based Cuisine in Phoenix or Nana’s Kitchen in Chandler.
Depending on the time and weather, any of Tempe Town Lake, Lake Pleasant, Riverview Park, City Scape, Westgate, or one of the many Hiking Trails would also be included in our plans.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I thank God for the daily inspiration to pursue something bigger than myself. My beautiful wife, Jessica, for being the support that encourages me and our family daily. I also give honor to the little people who made me a dad, my amazing children. Whether they realize it or not, they push me to be a better me all around. Last but not least, I would like to shout out my Agape fam and my church, Faith Christian Center – Pastors Sean & Erica Moore.
