Meet Ashley Tenaglia | Fashion Designer and Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Tenaglia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose an artistic career because it brings me true happiness and provides the freedom to create work that feels authentic to me. Being self-employed allows me to enjoy a higher quality of life while seeing the direct results of my efforts and personal growth. Creativity has always been an integral part of my identity—I’ve explored different forms of self-expression since I was young. I take great joy in working with my hands, transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary, and contributing beauty and positivity to the world around me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is sustainable fashion, and my focus is on creating one-of-a-kind pieces that breathe new life into thrifted clothing, transforming items that might have ended up in a landfill into fresh, unique designs. Alongside these, I also create my own handmade designs, blending sustainability with creativity to offer something truly special.

My journey to where I am today wasn’t easy. I spent four years as a teacher, and while I loved fashion, I couldn’t always afford to buy new clothes. That’s when I started using the sewing skills my mom taught me to thrift flip pieces, eventually learning how to design and create my own patterns. Balancing a full-time teaching job with starting my business required a lot of late nights and careful time management, but it was worth every challenge.

Through this journey, I’ve learned the value of perseverance and staying true to your passions. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that it’s not just about fashion—it’s about sustainability, creativity, and creating beauty with purpose. I’m incredibly proud of the joy my designs bring to people while making a positive impact on the planet.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Phoenix, I’d want to give them the perfect mix of adventure, local flavor, and unique experiences. We’d definitely start with a day of thrifting—there are so many great charity stores here where you can find incredible pieces while supporting good causes. On the weekend, we’d explore some of the amazing local markets, including Mint Market in Mesa, where I’m a vendor. It’s hands-down one of the best markets to discover handmade and small-business treasures.

For a dose of natural beauty, we’d head out to the Superstition Mountains for a sunset hike. The views are absolutely breathtaking and such a peaceful way to connect with Arizona’s stunning desert landscape. Another highlight would be sunset paddleboarding at Saguaro Lake—it’s so serene and picturesque.

When it comes to food and nightlife, I’d take them to Pizzeria Bianco in downtown Phoenix for some of the best pizza ever. Afterward, we’d hit Latin night at The Duce on Thursday for salsa dancing, which is always a blast. If they’re into country vibes, we’d go line dancing at Denim & Diamonds or even Buffalo Chip, where they could see some live bull riding.

Phoenix has such a vibrant mix of activities—it’s impossible not to have a good time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my late Nana, Sandy Rogan. She has been my inspiration since I was little and is the heart of my brand. Nana carried herself with such beauty and grace, and her impeccable sense of style left a lasting impression on me. Her love for fashion and her thoughtful way of approaching life inspired me to embrace my own creativity and passion. Every piece I design and every aspect of my business is a reflection of the values and beauty she instilled in me. I am endlessly grateful for the foundation she gave me and strive to honor her memory through my work.
