We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Macias-Clayburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audrey, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
From a young age, art has had a special place in my heart. My first attempt at art was a portrait, and from then on, I knew I had discovered something deep inside me – that was a passion for art. As someone with anxiety, I’ve been able to express my personality and my thoughts and feelings through my art and what I create for my business. I started to think that maybe I could turn my passion into something more. And that’s when I created Audrey’s Artistry Shop.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The best thing about art in my opinion is that anyone can love it, create it, sell it. It brings people together, and even helps people in the strangest ways. When I create something, I pour my entire soul into it. Whatever my hands make, my heart is attached. I think that it’s important to stand behind what you create, and be proud of it. That being said, some things just don’t work out. I’ve learned that even when you try your best, sometimes things don’t go the way you had hoped for. They can even be worse than you imagined. That’s when you have to remember why you started and why you’re doing what you’re doing. And most important – DON’T give up. I just want whoever comes across my small business to know this: I love to create, and what I create, is made with love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to Bearizona. It’s a great experience that everyone loves. It makes you love this state and it’s a spot that is special to Arizona! Arizona is a very interesting state – you could get an exciting experience just from watching the sunset in the middle of the desert. We do have the best sunsets!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to thank my family – they were the ones to encourage me to put my art into the world and share with other people. They have stood by me for everything I make, and even help me try out new things for my shop!
