Meet Autumn Timmins | President and Co-Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Autumn Timmins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Autumn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to live my “why” through a career that matters and create a way to support our community. By creating my nonprofit, I believe I can help empower our First Responders with better tools to create inclusivity while fostering a culture of acceptance and awareness between the First Responders and the autism community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m proud about being not only a law enforcement family with 25 years experience, but a parent to an almost 18 yr old autistic son. Having navigated the life of both sides of the community I know about the needs of both. After being a full-time parent, provider, and advocate for my son and law enforcement family, I saw the need for a specialized training program for autism awareness within the First Responder community.
I’m passionate about not only providing the training to our First Responders but providing support and resources as well. I believe strongly in the program and in bridging the gap in our community. I’ve navigated the process of trying to find support for my son and learning to manage the obstacles that one can face.
It hasn’t always been easy. Not all conversations have been easy, but I believe even tough conversations can eventually lead to a positive resolution. This training has been created based on some tough conversations that are necessary.
My nonprofit has been built to create awareness, and inclusivity, promote empathy, and foster positive interactions for our First Responders.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the downtown Gilbert area. It has something for everyone in the family to see and do. We would likely go to Zinburger to eat dinner. Walk around the downtown area. Go checkout the water tower. We may also go see a play at Hale Centre Theatre. We also love to go to Liberty Market to have lunch.
Take a couple days up north to Sedona and hike, enjoy cooler weather and beautiful scenery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m thankful for the love and support of my husband and 2 boys. Knowing that they believe in me and cheer me on every step of the way matters. Even when I may second guess myself, they remind me how strong and capable I am. We also always remember to laugh together.
My husband and I also have an amazing executive board for our nonprofit. They have cheered us on, believed in us, and guided us throughout the entire process of creating our nonprofit. This incredible team of human beings has been a huge part of our success so far and we couldn’t be more grateful for them.
