We had the good fortune of connecting with Becka Gottschalk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always held a 9 to 5 job for majority of my work life. I’ve had a few side hustles here and there but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I decided to venture out and have an actual business of my own. One of the biggest factors in starting my business was to be able have freedom of time and making my own schedule. Working for someone else made me feel like I was missing out on a lot of my daughter’s life/milestones and made me feel as if someone else was having to raise her in her first few years of life. This is when I knew I had to make a change.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from others is the professionalism, hospitality and honesty that I provide to my clients. I am always willing to answer any questions/concerns to the best of my knowledge and help ease any fears they may have to give them the most comfortable experience possible. I always have my client’s best interest in mind and will not perform or recommend service that I don’t think is a good fit for them.

I am most proud of how far I’ve come since I first started. It’s amazing to see how much my work has improved through practice. I am also proud of how much I explore and advance my knowledge to be able to provide my clients with a variety of services. I don’t just get a certification and stop there, I continue to learn and grow.

To get where I am today professionally, I’ve had to take a lot of risks and invest time and money with no return.
It has been far from easy. There has been a lot of learning as I go. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is not all the glitz and glam you see on social media, it takes a lot of perseverance and dedication to be able to have a successful business. I’ve been able to overcome challenges by keeping a positive mindset and continuing to work hard even when I feel like giving up because I know it will pay off in the end.

What I want the world to know about my business is how much I enjoy doing the work I do and being able to help women improve their self confidence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I’m such a homebody these days but I would take them to explore the night life in old town Scottsdale and downtown Phoenix. Depending on the time of year, I’d definitely recommend spending a day at Lake Pleasant on a boat and jet skis.

Mexican food is my favorite and I also love a good steak so I would take them to some of the best taco spots that I know and one of my favorite steak spots, Steak 44 or Ruth’s Chris. Another place I’d recommend is Compass Arizona Grill for a nice view of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to give a shoutout to my husband. As an entrepreneur himself, he has been able to help guide me and provide advice with the launching and growth of my business. He has been my number one supporter and motivator every step of the way. He has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and believes in me and my vision.

Second, I would like to give a shoutout to all of my clients and supporters. I am extremely grateful to everyone who has shared my business and referred people to me. Especially those clients who came to me when I first began and had no portfolio established — I appreciate them for putting their trust in me and agreeing to be guinea pigs in a sense.
