We had the good fortune of connecting with Berrin Tunçel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Berrin, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I had to choose to pursue an artistic career because Infact I was already born with the artistic talent. My ability of creativity was discovered by my family when I was too little before I was able to start speaking. My mother was a librarian teacher. When she brought me to her school, I had lots of tools to draw pictures, pencils, paper for drawing pictures. When I was alone at home, I used to draw big heads on the walls. I had my first exhibition at the Art Institute of Eskişehir ( a city, close to Ankara, the Capital of Türkiye)where my mother was working when I was only 6 years old. I was a member of a Foundation of Talented Children and I was taking private art classes at this Foundation. Then afterwards I never thought of any occupations , but always wanted to be a successful , worldwide known Artist throughout of my life despite all injustices, sufferings I endured in my own country. I think I managed to be what I wanted to be at the end. Art Audience of the World loved me and that is the biggest reward for me. I visited Arizona in the winter of 2001.I stayed in Via de Ventura, Scottsdale. It is one of the best states of USA I think. Lots of love from me to you. Artist Berrin Tunçel

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I will reply to your question by adding my biography in the link : https://www.tricera.net/artist/painters/8102100

I worked a lot, I always did paintings through my entire life. Despite nonsense critics, despite injusticeness to a Woman Artist, despite horrible media of the 80s , paparazzi news in my country, I continued painting. The head of Artists Foundation who was a woman also, put barriers to my art career, blocking my opening art exhibitions, by declaring that they would protest the art galleries who would arrange art exhibitions with Berrin Tuncel just because of an invitation card, printed with my body’s silhouette as a painting woman. I spent most of my life in this country where I suffered too much.
I have always overcome the challenges by continuously working and by ignoring people. Being appreciated in USA gave me assuring oxygen and the encouragement I ever needed and my film will continue there. Stay tuned ! Artist Berrin Tunçel
