Meet Bethany Grissum | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Grissum and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bethany, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The life long practice of discipline. Probably one of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of life in general. Understanding it’s importance and placing the proper perspective on it creates solid foundation for practically anything “positive”. I feel as though discipline is what we’d consider success, in of itself.
What should our readers know about your business?
CandetLocs is the baby of my business projects and is becoming the heart of it all. I’ve always done natural hair. especially during college. However, when I made the decision to lock my hair I wanted to make sure that I would be providing the best care and have the knowledge to have a healthy crown. This led me to not only getting them professionally started but taking the time to research to make sure that I would be able to provide the best maintenance for them. This mindset was the precursor to getting training to be able to professionally care for them. Shortly after training courses, I was offered the opportunity to work within a well established salon. One of the biggest challenges of the beginning stages of working in the hair community is building clientele which requires consistency, growth and availability! Something that I learned quickly is that when you’re in the building phase, knowing that everything you do is an investment into your tomorrow; that has to be the focus. Hopefully, that mindset will cultivate the pillar that I’ll be able to comfortably lean on.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spots in the valley are definitely in the elements. We would be hiking Camelback Mountain first and foremost, not only for the experience of concurring the epic mountain but the road to get there has so many life parallels that make some of the biggest feats, bite size. Other than the mountains of the valley, we would visit the Desert Botanical Gardens for its beautiful collection of natural artistry, experience Old Town Scottsdale and take pictures downtown.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love the proverb “Iron sharpens Iron”. To insinuate any point of success or sense of accomplishment would be a kudos to the Iron I’m surrounded by, in every facet of life’s arenas. So to anyone who I’ve had the privilege of rubbing shoulders with, absorbing from, and experiencing – I’ve been positively impacted; even the smallest frictions can erupt the wildest fires.
