We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I would love to see Threads Sew Blessed on a building. My goal is to open my own store. I don’t want to focus on just one size or one gender, I want to sew for everyone. I am always hearing stories of how their clothes fit here, but not here, even with men. I’ve done alterations for both so far, men and women. So having clothes that are made to measure, would allow them to get clothing just for their body. I would have ready to wear clothes as well, but ideally, I would like to take clients on who need them for their body type so it’ll be proportionate to them and no one else. Inside my store, boutique, shop, or whichever one comes first, I would have a room specifically for my sewing space and the clothing on the front side of the store. Professionally, I’d love to work with TV hosts, News Reporters, and such. I love that style of clothing. Although, you may not see those type of looks in my portfolio now, but they are for sure coming.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is that I provide more than one type of service. I’ve seen where some only focus on dresses, clothing, this, or that. I provide whatever service that I can. I like to say if God allows me to do it, I will do it. I’ve done many things outside of clothing. Inside and outside home decor. I’ve done pillow covers, altered curtains, as well as blackout curtains. I’ve also turned existing pillows into a chair cover. And just recently, I did a heavy duty hammock. Lastly, I do machine embroidery as well. So I don’t just focus on clothes, I like to dive into everything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man. I would most definitely take them to Sedona, go on some hiking trails and caverns. They are beyond beautiful, I would like to see them myself because I’ve only seen the caverns in pictures and videos online. I’d like to take them to the Grande Canyon SkyWalk, that was amazing. And I just recently found out that there’s a Flintstone’s Bedrock City at Raptor Ranch in Williams, Arizona. That’s a bit far from the Grande Canyon West. It’s in the opposite direction, so that’ll definitely have to be on a different day. You can ask anybody that knows me, I hardly ever do anything in the Valley. When I go out, I literally go, out; like hours of driving. And I normally make them into one day trips. Apparently, I am very adventurous. I am just recently realizing that. I stay on the go while maintaining my personal life and business. It truly gives me joy and a peace of mind, and I’d very much so love to share that with someone. As far as food, I love Red Lobster, other than that, we can decide together. I am probably the most simplest eater you’ll meet. I’m a true Burgers and Fries young lady. Drinks, well, I don’t drink. At all. If they’re a drinker, I would probably take them to the SandBar and I’ll just have a non-alcoholic beverage. Poetic Soul, here in Phoenix, events are nice too. I wouldn’t mind going there on a Wednesday night; which would also allow them to have food and drinks. And lastly, but certainly not least, it would be great if I could take a friend to one of my good friends performances. The group is a sibling’s singing group called RCC. Their shows are always amazing. I normally don’t go to shows like that, but I go for them. They’re great. And they are also here in the valley.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends has been a major, major part of my success. They have referred people to me, as well as supported me individually by paying me for their services as if they were a stranger. I’ve also put my business cards at Fabric stores, Beauty Supply stores, and received clients from them. I have became very acquainted with the employees at the Husqvarna Viking store where I purchased my machine and they give people my contact information or my business card if they have one handy. The NextDoor Neighbor app has helped too. After I posted my work on there, I received business from people and those clients also referred other people to me. Outside of all that, Google has helped. If someone Google’s the nearest sewing needs in their area, I pop up, which has brought me business.
